Life and Work with Bianca Harrison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Harrison.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
With a love for reading, the joy of writing soon prevailed. Starting out writing short stories, I decided to write my first novel in 2011. In 2015, I published, Someone To Call My Own under Jessica Watkins Presents Publishing. With great imagination, and a love for storytelling. My hobby became a profession going on to pen other novels, from Forever His Wife, to Inseparable.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth fighting for is always smooth, but well worth it in the end. There is so much to just writing a book. I’ve learned a lot in this business. I’ve struggled with writer’s block, but often bounce back. I’m always trying to improve by taking online classes that help with what I’m trying to accomplish and to better my writing skills. I’ll tell anyone, write for you and not the readers. You’ll end up losing yourself trying to please others and not satisfied with the work you put out. In all, I enjoy it for the most part. There is always a story to be told, it’s up to the writer to make it happen.

Please tell us about Jessica Watkins Presents.
For the most part, I still work a full-time job as a Billing Specialist in Real Estate and Insurance. Writing is my hobby/profession, that I soon to make full time. I am currently under Jessica Watkins Presents but have my own publishing company (Harrison Publications). Soon, you’ll see work from me with that new imprint. I’m very proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish while still working full time and feel as though my writing style sets me apart from others. All my books are totally different and I like it that way. That gives me the opportunity to write in the different genre.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Supporting one another. I feel as though, there is enough room for all of us to win, but in any industry, one feels you may do better than them. I hate to feel the way (I support, who supports me) but sometimes, it comes down to that.
