Conversations with Tammy Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Taylor

Hi Tammy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, My name is Tammy D. Taylor. I am from Atlanta GA, a mother of 2 and grandmother of one. I am an Licensed Insurance Agent and entrepreneur. In addition I am an award winning full figured model, author, actress and advocate

In my younger years, I was a victim of domestic abuse and I suffered from depression anxiety and self loathing as a result. It took me almost 30 years to realize that I was never to blame, and gain my strength to tell my story as a Survivor!!
One of my most proud moments is the release of A Love Story Vol 2: My Journey to Love. I had the amazing opportunity to co author this book with my chapter titled The Love I Found. This Chapter describes how I overcame domestic abuse , self loathing, depression and anxiety and found my purpose. This experience allowed me to come to terms with my past and find the courage to speak my truth. I now speak to women and I share my story with the hopes of empowering them to find the strength to comes to terms with their past and press forward to the future.

In finding my purpose I founded The Weight We Carry Women’s Initiative, Inc, A 501c3 Nonprofit Organization whose mission is to serve as a resource to empower women by helping them thrive professionally, economically and personally. We offer a wide variety of initiatives and programs that encourages women to actively pursue their aspirations. My dedication to empowering women was recognized by Bosses and Bossettas Awards as I was awarded for Advocacy for Women.

I have no regrets and I am not ashamed of what I have gone through because I know this all has prepared me for this moment. Its my calling to use my talents and influence to provide a path for women to become the best version of themselves regardless of circumstance.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge is overcoming imposter syndrome. Because of my past I was filled with self doubt. I sometimes would self sabotage efforts because I didn’t think I deserved them. I have now more self confidence because I know I am walking in my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
