Today we’d like to introduce you to Halima Muhammad
Hi Halima , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story begins in chaos. After a string of toxic relationships that left me with a damaged nervous system, low self-esteem, and emotional exhaustion—coupled with a devastating miscarriage in 2022 and a layoff in 2023 that stripped away my career identity—I found myself at rock bottom. But sometimes, hitting rock bottom is where you discover the tools to rebuild. I’d always loved art and fashion, but self-doubt kept me from sharing my creativity with the world—until I had nothing left to lose.
I borrowed money to enroll in an AI art course, devoting myself to mastering the craft. What started as a lifeline became a revolution: byH was born. This brand isn’t just about creating art—it’s about proving that even in our darkest moments, we can bet on ourselves. My mission? To show women navigating trauma, loss, or the storms of perimenopause and menopause that reinvention is possible.
But my greatest inspiration comes from my three incredible children. They’ve grown into compassionate, resilient adults. Though I haven’t always been perfect, I’ve always strived to show them what it means to rise after falling. They’ve watched me rebuild, and in their own journeys—pursuing careers, embracing creativity, and facing life’s hurdles with grace—they’ve taught me as much as I’ve taught them. I’m endlessly proud of the people they’ve become, and that pride fuels my desire to keep growing—not just for myself, but to honor the legacy I hope they’ll carry forward.
Through byH, I create art that speaks to resilience, pairing bold designs with an even bolder message: Your pain can become your purpose. To anyone doubting their worth—especially women walking the lonely path of perimenopause or healing from trauma—I want to say: Bet on yourself. My children are my living proof that growth is possible, and every piece I create is a reminder that we’re all works of art in progress.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not. My journey has been paved with setbacks that felt insurmountable at the time. After my miscarriage in 2022, I battled grief while clinging to a situationship that eroded my self-worth. By the time I was laid off in 2023, I was emotionally and financially depleted—I’d tied my identity to a job that vanished overnight, leaving me without a safety net or a sense of purpose.
Starting byH meant borrowing money I didn’t have to enroll in an AI art course, all while silencing the voice in my head that said, “Who do you think you are to call yourself an artist?” There were nights I worked until dawn, figuring out how to pour into myself while healing from trauma, terrified I’d fail my children or myself. And even now, as I create art for women navigating perimenopause and trauma, I fight the fear that my story is “too messy” to inspire others.
But every obstacle taught me something vital: Grief can be a catalyst. Self-doubt is just a sign you’re pushing boundaries. And sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is bet on yourself when no one else will.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My Work & Purpose
I’m an AI artist, storyteller, and advocate for women reclaiming their power—especially those navigating perimenopause, trauma, or seasons of self-doubt. Through my brand byH, I blend cutting-edge technology with raw, emotional storytelling to create art that heals, disrupts, and connects. My work lives at the intersection of innovation and vulnerability: bold AI-driven paintings and “Hey Sis” encouragement cards carry the same mission—to remind women they’re not alone.
What Sets Me Apart?
In just six months, I’ve built a massive online art portfolio, collaborated with galleries like Southern Heartland Art Gallery, the Oddity Museum, and stepped into the role of AI New Student Advisor—guiding others to harness technology for creative liberation. But what truly defines my work is the why behind it: Every piece I create is infused with my own journey from self-destruction to self-love. I don’t just make art for survivors—I make it as a survivor, using AI not to hide my story but to amplify it.
What I’m Most Proud Of
Beyond the gallery features and book deals, I’m proudest of the love I’ve cultivated for myself—a love I didn’t think I deserved. That transformation fuels everything. When women message me saying my “Hey Sis” cards got them through a panic attack, or when my kids say, “Mom, you’re glowing now,” I know I’m on the right path.
My superpower? Turning pain into portals. I create spaces where women see their resilience reflected back at them—and think, “If she did it, so can I.”
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is the warmth of connection—sharing laughter, stories, and quiet moments with loved ones, especially my children; who remind me that I am loved and supported. I thrive when I’m creating, whether cooking a family recipe or dancing to music that feels like home, channeling my emotions into art that celebrates my roots. Lifting others up, through small acts or heartfelt conversations, fills me with purpose because I believe in the power of community. I recharge in stillness—sipping tea at dawn, tending plants, or meditation —as these pauses help me reflect and cherish life’s simplicity. And I’m endlessly curious, finding joy in learning new ideas, exploring cultures, or growing through challenges. All of this, to me, is about balance: honoring my past while embracing change, nurturing others without losing myself, and finding magic in everyday gratitude.
