Community Highlights: Meet Tresha Vick of Mone’t Lavish Hair Extensions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tresha Vick.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My dream of becoming an entrepreneur started in college. I began doing lash extensions, taking all the necessary classes, earning certifications, building a clientele—you name it. I even invested in all the supplies I needed to launch my business. However, after a few months, I ran out of supplies and could no longer do anyone’s lashes. I could have just purchased more supplies, but I didn’t. I kept telling myself I would, but days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and eventually, a year passed. Deep down, I knew I wasn’t going back to lashing.

A couple of years later, I started exploring new business ideas. I considered launching a clothing line, selling hair, starting a nonprofit, or diving into real estate. The only problem? I didn’t have the funds to start any of them. So, I waited. While those ideas stayed in the back of my mind, I knew I needed to secure the financial means first. In 2022, I received some money, and without hesitation, I opened a business bank account and deposited $2,000. The initial plan was to invest in real estate, but I soon realized that $2,000 wouldn’t get me where I wanted to go in that field. The plan changed, but I wasn’t sure what direction to take. As a result, that money sat untouched in the bank account for two whole years.

Fast forward to July 2024, I had a brief conversation with my mom about starting a business. She suggested I become a travel agent since I love traveling and planning trips so much. She had a good point, so I reached out to a family friend who was a travel agent to learn more. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t my calling. My heart was in the beauty industry. Sure, I love to travel, and yes, I’m an exceptional planner, but beauty has always been my passion. My mom then suggested starting a hair extension business, and I immediately thought of the idea I had years ago but couldn’t pursue due to financial constraints. I told her, “Okay, bet,” and that’s exactly what I did. It made perfect sense—I’d been wearing other businesses’ hair products all these years, so why not bet on myself and wear my own brand?

Mone’t Lavish Hair Extensions was officially introduced on February 1, 2025.

Let me be clear—starting a business isn’t for the faint of heart. This entire journey has been one big learning process, and I haven’t even launched yet. It has taken a lot of faith, risk-taking, and courage to get this far. I talk to God every day and pray over my business because I know it’s destined for success. I also understand that success takes time, but with patience, hard work, and trust in God, I know Mone’t Lavish Hair Extensions will become a multimillion-dollar company. That’s what I call, “faith talk”.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! It took me months to find the right hair supplier, and when I couldn’t find one, I became SO discouraged. But I kept going, I kept researching, I kept trusting God.

Another challenge I faced was pricing my bundles. Initially, I set the prices myself in my business plan, but I soon realized I needed a proper system. I ended up purchasing an ebook from a young woman’s hair business because I felt completely lost. The ebook broke down the process of pricing bundles in a way that ensures both profitability and fairness to customers, which was such a game-changer for me.

Another struggle—and I’m sure many business owners can relate—was marketing. Putting myself out there felt daunting at first. Creating content, handing out business cards, networking—it all seemed overwhelming and scary. But now, I’ve embraced the mindset that I have to be my own billboard. If no one else promotes my business, I must step up and do it myself. It’s a lesson I’ve learned and continue to live by.

What I am most proud of is having the holy boldness and faith to take the leap and start this business. So often, people plan endlessly but hesitate to act. At some point, you have to step out on faith and simply begin, trusting that God will guide your path. If He gave you the vision, He will ensure you’re taken care of.

The official launch date for MLHE is September 1, 2025.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories would definitely have to be going to see Mindless Behavior in concert with my cousin. Does that tell my age? We were so young and thought we were in love. Like I just knew Princeton was my man. I remember when we first found out we were going, our parents printed out a picture of them and placed it into an envelope and then gave it to us to open on Christmas. We were so happy.
