Today we’d like to introduce you to Errick Davis.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From the age of 5 to 21 I was a basketball player. Ball was life in my eyes. From going to one of the top public school powerhouses in Raleigh NC, to being a member of one of the top ranked AAU programs in the country (Garner Road Bulldogs/ D-one Sports) around that time, I thought basketball was my calling. But in the year 2015 all that was done and I honestly didn’t know what was next. I was a junior at the university of North Carolina at Greensboro and I was lost. One day I’m watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air while on the phone with my mom and she’s asking me what do I want to do with my life. Growing up I was an actor and never noticed. I would always act out scenes from my favorite sitcoms and movies, But I didn’t realize I had talent. So while we are on the phone my mother said “ Son have you ever thought about being an actor”. I laughed. She replied and said you’ve always been talented and had a gift for being in front of the tv, why not try to be on it? At that moment not only did my mother speak to me, but GOD did as well. So at UNCG I took my first acting class, performed in a stage play for my final grade and killed it. From that point forward I knew I wanted to be a television and film actor. I continued to take different acting classes, Learned how to write my own films, build relationships in the industry, got an agent and just been grinding it out. This is year 10 for me being an actor. I love the art of storytelling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say being an actor is all about testing your commitment and faith to this craft. I’ve felt every emotion possible with this craft. Some good, some bad. But the good has definitely outweighed the bad for me. There are some days when I book a big project and I’m so excited and happy. The work that I’ve put in and continue to put in has prepared me for that moment. Then There are times when I’ve cried in the shower and felt like giving up. Then other times I’ve cried with tears of joy because I love it so much. It’s all a test of my commitment and faith in god.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actor, writer, producer, host and creative. Me and one of my best friends Andrew Covington Co- created a web series in 2015 Called Trapped. We wrote the scripts, paid for production out of pocket and started something special. I’n 2022 we Wrote and produced a feature film based off of the series called Trapped. It’s currently on Amazon Prime and Tubi. One of my biggest accomplishments, I’m blessed. Ive also starred in a tv series called UNFAZED written by an amazing writer and friend named Eugene Bennett. We also have a Romantic Comedy coming out called Blue Pill. Bro is truly creative. Reminds me a lot of Ryan Coogler. I’m also on TVONE’s Fatal Attraction Episode 1404 Duel Disappearance. I’ve also done some projects with the creative eye production company. That’s ran by my brother Dijon means. We’ve worked on a couple of projects. One is called Christmas vibrations and another one called Contention. I’ve also written another series entitled The Fallout with my brother Donald Brown and my sister Leslie Sheri 2 phenomenal actors and writers. I currently have a short film that’s streaming on Revolt TV called Thank U. It’s starring myself and Tierra Goode from Philly. It’s produced and written by Josh Santiago. Amazing director and producer in the game. I’ve also hosted some events for Revolt TV as well. I’m just blessed to be able to show the world my talent and share my gifts with the world. Also later on this year I have a recurring role on one of the biggest shows on television. I can’t say too much about it. Just know we coming ! I’m excited and i can’t wait for the world to meet this character I’m playing.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice would be to never stop learning or taking acting class, create your own way, while also being open to developing relationships. Never be afraid to create your vision. I’m represented by the acting agency Gill Talent Group. We have this saying called “create don’t wait” and I truly believe that. You have to put in the work. The work will never stop. This is year 10 for me, a decade of blood sweat and tears and I’m loving the process. The worst thing you can do is stop. Never stop.
