Today we’d like to introduce you to Aniya Lay.
Hi Aniya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started creating content on Instagram in 2010, shortly after the app launched, and I’ve been active ever since. After graduating high school, I pursued my passion for fashion by studying fashion marketing, which eventually led me to Georgia State University. I earned my degree in Communication Arts in 2023. Today, I create lifestyle and fashion vlogs on TikTok (@niyanicolevlogs) and Instagram (@niyanicolelay). This journey has opened so many incredible doors, allowing me to collaborate with amazing brands like Samsung Galaxy, Gopuff, Rare Beauty, YSL Beauty, SIMON malls and more!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating content has always come naturally to me, mostly because I approach it with a fun and carefree mindset. While I do get my fair share of hate comments, they don’t really bother me. I make sure to keep my social media light and enjoyable, and my hope is to inspire young Black girls with similar dreams to live life to the fullest and chase after what they want!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create videos showcasing some of my favorite activities, like shopping, exploring new hobbies, hauls, and daily vlogs. I’d say I’m best known for my fishing adventures, Ralph Lauren styling videos, and blending that with a cowgirl aesthetic. What makes me stand out is that I don’t stick to just one niche. I’m all about variety and probably never will niche down. I love horseback riding, ATV adventures, and getting muddy while hiking, but I’m equally down for a chill day at one of my favorite wineries. My motto is simple: “Do it, do it all!”
What’s next?
In the future, I’d love to return to YouTube full-time, though my content will likely evolve to focus more on home decorating, lifestyle, and creating a capsule wardrobe vibe. As I continue to grow in my career and life, I can definitely see my content shifting, but it will always stay fun and authentic to who I am!
