Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Ajuste.
Hi Chloe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story, wow where do I begin …
I am a Haitian American young lady, born and raised in Florida! Growing up I always knew I’d get into fashion, modeling and beauty, I’ve always been a girly girl. My mom was an Avon Rep growing up so I used to play with makeup all the time and I had an aunt who helped me get into my first modeling agency.
I’m also Christian, an SDA to be exact so literally growing up all I knew was l’ecole, legliz, lakay (translation; school, church, and home!
Of course like any first born Haitian raised daughter I had to uphold the HIGHEST of expectations. Perfect attendance, straight A’s I’m sure some of you already know. The pressure was immense so I knew I had to be on my own ASAP plus Haitian’s like any other family can get really toxic. I mean reallyyy toxic.
Fast forward I moved to Miami “305 to my CITY”! Lol no seriously THE Chloe was made in Miami. I love that city so much. That’s where I was taught about life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I survived and yes I mean literally survived not only putting myself through college but an abusive relationship.
The best parts of me and the worst parts of me began to show themselves when I moved but I don’t regret anything! I was a TOP model in Miami, a hustler, a go getter. That’s literally where my life truly began and I started taking content creation serious, however I was hesitant. There was so much more I wanted to do but I honestly cared way too much about what others would think.
Fast forward, I’m here in the beautiful state of Georgia and it’s different but I’m embracing every aspect from starting over and literally rebuilding from the ground up, trusting God like never before and I’m so excited to see what this chapter of my life brings so stay tuned and tap in with me on Instagram @chlomo_x3 🫶🏾
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I absolutely wish the road was smooth but one thing about me I don’t fold under pressure and I love a good challenge!
I faced plenty of struggles. Sleeping in my car after my lease was up because I trusted a man who said “he would take care of me” then when I finally said okay “poof” like magic. I practically moved so much by myself with help every now and then. I know that people were wishing and waiting for me to fail, some still waiting and will keep waiting 🙂
I completely struggled to find my identity and who I was, most importantly who God wanted me to be. I was a walking question mark but I’ve always known that things would work out so I just kept pushing!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Although I am a creative and thrive when it comes to posting content, I’m also an educator! I love working with kids, they are the sweetest!
I’m way more comfortable working with toddlers up to 3rd grade. After that … something about the attitudes and entitlement don’t sit well with me. Don’t get me started on high school. I think this generation has a lot to learn honestly so I’m okay helping where I can but I also know my limits!
As an educator I’m most proud of the fact that I love and know what I’m doing. With me you get results in children’s behavior, attitude, and ability to communicate and learn. Foundation is so important. Why are kids in school and they can’t even say please and thank you!!! Fundamentals people please 😭 manners… we’ll take anything respectful at this point!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up as I mentioned before I loved fashion, modeling and beauty. I was a bit of an artists if I do say so myself. I’ve always been creative, wrote my own songs, and poems. I used to design and create dresses from literally anything I could find around the house. I honestly lived in my own world of color and music because it was how I escaped reality.
Singing was a big escape of mine. I sang anywhere I could which is funny because I was so shy about it. I sang at church, at school, on the bus, in the car, the shower, literally wherever!
I was also and still am into jokes. I’m corny lol no doubt about it. I just to laugh!
Although from the outside looking in we seemed like the perfect little Haitian family, my family was far from perfect. I come from a line of cultural differences in how kids are raised and that caused a lot of hurt, confusion, and misunderstandings growing up. Just know my strive for perfection was a response to what’d happen if I wasn’t.
