Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Anderson.
Hi Antonio, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
About 2 years ago. The Lord spoke to me while I was cutting the grass at my home. I heard in my spirit ( Aquire the name THEY DIDN’T BELIEVE IN US. GOD DID) at that time I kept cutting the grass and I heard it again. ( Aquire the name THEY DIDN’T BELIEVE IN US. GOD DID) Well, I went into the house and I mentioned it to my youngest son Christian Anderson and He looked at me and said that will be a Miracle! Believe it or not Christian was correct it turned out to be a MIRACLE. That same week I called my Patent Attorney who I have been working with for over 20 years Walter Rodgers. He proceeded to move forward with the trademark process that same week to get the name on file soon as possible. Months later a very popular celebrity by the name of DJ Khaled comes out with the Grammy nominated song titled GODDID! I new nothing about his album name at all. I was just moving in the direction the lord told me to go. Fast forward months later, I received a letter from DJ Khaled and his attorney that ordered us to cease and desist. Basically, stop everything that we were doing at that time. During that time we were up and running selling our clothing brand. Moreover, we wrote them a letter back letting them know that we were already in the final approval stage of our trademark process with the Patent and Trademark office and everything was moving forward from the examiner at the USPTO office. One thing I remember in that letter from DJ Khaled and his attorney and that is she mentioned that she don’t know how we did it but the overall process of a trademark application to get in front of an examiner is about 8 to 12 months. Our application process went through with Angel Speed and was done in less time than a normal application process. Also, my Patent Attorney said basically the same thing. He said with over 50 years of experience he never seen anything like that. Well hopefully you remembered what my son Christian Anderson told me after I was cutting the grass ( DAD that will be a MIRACLE). Well all I have to say is GODDID!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have had some ups and downs but I have great family members who have helped me along the way. My brother Darrell Anderson who is part owner of A House Productions was there from the beginning. Investing his money and bringing his business knowledge of over 25 years to the table. Darrell is the President of A House Productions. Also my two sons have been unbelievable In setting the foundation in place for the company. My oldest son Bryce Anderson who is the Creative Director for the company. He has been instrumental in some of the logo designs, and color pallets for the clothing line moving forward. Christian Anderson who is the Digital Director for the company is inspirational with all video production and some website creations. Last but not least my Daughter is part of my modeling team for most print material. My mother and father has always been there with there support and I do have some ANGLES that are not seen. My biggest challenge I must say is how can we partner with a big company that is currently in this space that can see there is a major market for an upscale christian clothing brand that has the right messaging that everyone can feel and gravitate to and they can catch the GODDID vision.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
For those who do not know I am an Product Developer/Inventor I have developed several products and licensed some of them to 100 Million Dollar Companies. I have landed several products in stores like Walmart, Target, Burlington and Babiesrus around the country totaling over 1 Million in retail sales. One product in particular called the Gabriel Feeding Pad named after my youngest son Christian Anderson was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show not once but twice. That was an amazing journey meeting Oprah and experiencing taping a live show. Also, I have been filmed Shark Tank, Funderdome tv show on abc with Steve Harvey and Good Day Atlanta on fox 5 and many others. Moreover, I have co written a book a few years back called TAKE IT TO THE MARKET the invention process made easy. During this time, I assembled a team of specialist from Designers, Engineers, Patent Attorneys and manufactures to help others bring their God given dreams to market. I think what set me apart from most people is my family ties and how we came together to bring this clothing brand to market. I tell people all the time, when no one else believed in you GODDID!
How do you think about happiness?
What make me happy is when I am at my store at Atlantic Station and we have so many people come up to us after they read the branding on my store ( They didn’t believe in us. GODDID). Everyone wants to tell us their GODDID moment. I will never forget when one particular family came up to my store to buy some product and the mother begin to tell me she and her husband was told by Expert Doctors that their daughter would never walk at all. I am thinking she was extremely young at that time. They immediately left the Doctors office and took their family to the Zoo. Once they arrived at the zoo, they began to pray and speak scriptures over their daughter. Immediately she began to walk. GODDID. I have hundreds of these types of GODDID moment. Just last year I had one of my personal GODDID moments when God said my life on the highway. I was doing about 70 miles per hour and I was hit very hard in the back of my convertible and immediately I went into a complete 360 spin out my car hit the median wall and bounced forward. My car was a complete loss. But like Oprah say all the time, one thing I know for sure and that is my heavenly father saved my life. I walked away with out a scratch on my body GODDID! People buy our GODDID clothing brand, because it make them feel some kind of way inside a form of peace. ( THEY DIDN’T BELIEVE IN US. GODDID).
