Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgett.
Hi Bridgett, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The only thing Bridgett Renay loves doing more than serving her fellow Veterans as a Certified Peer Specialist is running her business, Legacy Bridge, Inc. If you let her tell it, the first spoken words from the quiet but observant five-time bestselling author were, “Everyone deserves to leave behind a fabulous legacy”.
But before pursuing her dream of becoming an acclaimed writer and business owner, the pragmatic Bridgett Renay believed she had to first make good on a promise she made to God. That promise revolved around the pursuit of higher learning and community service and was made after He removed her from a traumatic incident. Little did she know those two entities would be the guiding forces behind her life experiences.
The years of personal triumphs earning a Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from Cornell University, a Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication, and a Master of Business Administration, as well as professional growth with 25+ years in corporate America and a Retired Navy Reservist, tells the story of a journey that took her to faraway places, introduced her to intoxicating people, and shaped the way she views the world and her place in it.
As the result, she began to focus her writing on no longer entertaining, but empowering the masses instead. And now, after surviving a tour as a Military Patrolman in the Middle East Post 9/11, Bridgett Renay has rededicated herself to serving the underserved as well as those who unselfishly served by her side while never forgetting her unit’s motto, “We start together, we finish together.”
As a mental health advocate, Bridgett Renay brings both passion and purpose to the mic hosting her podcast, Veterans, Front and Center. She speaks directly to U.S. Military personal – both retired and actively serving – who feel stuck, uninspired, or simply not living their best life.
Bridgett Renay resides in Riverdale, Georgia. When not designing and selling empowerment t-shirts for women and Veterans, or being a community advocate, she also loves spending time with family and friends while travelling to exotic locations and trying new things. She is also an avid hiker who enjoys exploring Georgia’s beautiful state parks, national parks with her favorite being the Smoky Mountains, and scenic hiking trails throughout the country, with her hiking club Team Train Faithfully.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While proudly serving my country in the Middle East Post 9/11 as a security patrolman, I caught a case of PTSD and struggled until I decided to take my power back and get the help I needed. It taught me to not only advocate for myself, but for others as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love the creative process. Writing my best-sellers not only allowed me to escape some of the harsh realities of the world with my fiction books, but to also empower individuals with my non-fiction. I also began my professional speaking career where I have landed on the same platform alongside powerhouse speakers such as Lisa Nichols, Shellie Hunt, Robin Roberts, and Johnny Wimbrey …to name a few.
But I’m most proud of my certification in Peer Support where I use my life experience to serve as a mental health life coach and advocate. It awakened my entrepreneurial spirit to create a tees collection empowering women to continue breaking generational curses with confidence, elegance, and authenticity. It not only allows me to use mental health as a tool to help individuals grow an entrepreneurial platform, but it serves as the legacy I plan to leave behind. And I believe that’s what sets me apart from others.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when me, my brother, and sister, would dress up our dolls and stuffed animals and put on shows for them. It may have been the spark that created the artist in me.
