Hi Dr. Rhonda , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a leadership strategist, Certified Professional Coach, and trusted advisor dedicated to helping leaders and organizations thrive. As the Principal & Chief Talent Development Officer at Silver Hawk Coaching & Consulting, I specialize in leadership development, management development, talent management, coaching, and organizational effectiveness. Silver Hawk Coaching & Consulting was launched after being laid off in May 2024. With over 15 years of experience, I have designed and implemented enterprise-wide learning programs, leadership initiatives, and talent strategies that drive peak
performance.

As a Certified DISC Facilitator and former faculty member at multiple universities, I have taught leadership and business strategy at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral students. I am also a mentor for Upnotch, sharing my expertise with emerging and experienced professionals. I have a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Mercer University located in Atlanta, GA.

As co-founder of the Influential Leaders Alliance community, we support leaders, executives, and entrepreneurs in advancing their careers and businesses. I am the author of the newly released book, The Influential Leader Blueprint, a practical guide to leadership excellence, and The Goal Digger’s Playbook, an empowering resource for ambitious professionals seeking next level success. In addition, I co-authored The Quick and Dirty Guide to Entrepreneurship, a modern guide for new entrepreneurs who want to develop a solid foundation for their startups.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I truly wish I could say the road to where I am today was smooth and without obstacles—but that wouldn’t be my truth. As a first-generation college graduate who was raised in the projects, I began life with statistics stacked against me long before I ever walked across a high school graduation stage. The odds said I wouldn’t make it, but my mother said otherwise.

She held a vision for me that went far beyond her own experiences. Though her circumstances were limited, her love, encouragement, and unwavering belief in my potential were boundless. She always pushed me to rise higher, to dream bigger, and to become more than she ever had the opportunity to be. Her sacrifices and the way she poured into my life gave me a foundation that I will forever be grateful for.

Still, the journey wasn’t easy. My college years, and even the years that followed, were filled with hurdles: financial strain, academic setbacks, and social and cultural challenges that often made me feel like I didn’t belong. Navigating environments where I felt out of place tested both my resilience and my identity.

Early in my career, I carried the weight of self-doubt. I battled an internal fear of not being enough and wrestled with low self-esteem. It took time, introspection, mentorship, and faith to quiet those voices and begin to stand fully in my worth.

But every challenge shaped me. Every struggle stretched me. Every moment of uncertainty pushed me to discover the power and potential that had been within me all along.

How do you define success?
To me, success exists on two levels.

The first level is having the courage to pursue what you want using what you already have. Far too often, people hesitate to chase their goals because they believe every piece of the puzzle must be in place before they begin. But in my experience, starting with what’s in your hands opens the door for new opportunities, resources, and support to show up along the way. Movement creates momentum.

The second level of success is reaching your goal despite the challenges, setbacks, or failures encountered along the journey. It’s not just about crossing the finish line, it’s also about who you become in the process. True success is found in the resilience it takes to keep going when things get tough, and in the growth that happens when you choose not to give up.
