Inspiring Conversations with Antonio Miller of Healing A Heart Nonprofit Organization

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Miller.

Hi Antonio, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Antonio Dueshawn Miller Jr., a 26-year-old poet, author, and founder of Healing A Heart, a nonprofit I launched in 2021. I was born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a twin and one of six siblings, and my early life was deeply influenced by the pain I saw my mother and other women endure due to abuse.
In 2014, I turned to poetry as a way to process what I witnessed and to connect with the voices of women who have experienced trauma. Writing gave me clarity, purpose, and a path toward advocacy.
After high school, I chose not to pursue college and instead committed myself fully to helping survivors heal. Through my writing and community work, I strive to be a voice for the unheard and a source of strength for those rebuilding their lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say securing the necessary support and funding to launch our programs and fundraisers. I believe this difficulty is partly reflective of the current societal climate. In light of this, I recognize that effectively disseminating our message of love and togetherness will require more collaboration and assistance than I initially anticipated.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Founded in 2021, Healing A Heart is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for survivors of various forms of abuse. Our mission focuses on individuals who have experienced trauma related to Domestic Violence,S*xual Assault,S*xual Harassment,Kidnapping,Child Abuse,S*x Trafficking,Alcohol Abuse,Foster Home Abuse,Depression,Suicide,Homelessness,Violence,Gun Violence,Black On Black Crime,Racism,Police Brutality,Wrongful Convictions, Mental – Emotional And Psychological Abuse And Autism Awareness At Healing A Heart, we are committed to fostering a safer and more compassionate world through a range of supportive programs, awareness initiatives, and essential resources. Our ultimate goal is to end all forms of abuse and to empower survivors on their journey to healing and recovery.

How do you define success?
I define success by the amount of people that I help heal from abuse or heal from any trauma that they’re facing. It is not just about personal achievements, but about the positive impact I can make in the lives of others. Each individual who finds healing and restoration represents a milestone of success, reflecting a journey toward resilience and hope. Success, to me, is the collective healing of those I support and the transformation of their lives as they move forward.
