Community Highlights: Meet Omisegun Adegboro of IWA Lifestyle Corp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omisegun Adegboro.

Hi Omisegun , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began on the beautiful island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where I was born Tiffany Pennick. Over time, guided by spirit and tradition, I became known as Iyalode Omisegun Adegboro—Omi for short. For the past 17 years, I’ve walked the path of a practitioner and priestess of Yoruba traditions, a journey that’s shaped my identity, my values, and my life’s work.

I’m the founder and CEO of IWA Lifestyle, a lifestyle brand and platform dedicated to celebrating the character, culture, and community of women of the African Diaspora who practice African spiritual traditions. IWA is not just a business—it’s a reflection of my commitment to cultural integrity and feminine power. Through this work, I’ve worn many hats: entrepreneur, author, designer, executive producer, and philanthropist.

In 2024, I launched Voices of IWA, my first podcast, to create space for stories often left untold—women living their destinies out loud, grounded in ancestral wisdom. The first season culminated in the Real Women Inspire Summit in March 2025, where 100 women from across the country gathered to celebrate sisterhood, spirit, and service. Every step of the way, my goal has been to honor tradition while building a future rooted in authenticity, connection, and legacy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been plenty! This has not been a smooth road by far. There have been plenty of bumps and bruises along the way. We officially launched IWA Lifestyle in 2017 at Zucot Gallery in Atlanta, and by 2019, we were honored to be invited to participate in New York Fashion Week—an incredible high point. But soon after, life began “lifing,” as we say. We faced serious setbacks, and it became hard to keep up with all the moving pieces of the vision we had for IWA.

Personally, I hit a low point and went through a period of depression. It was tough, and I had to be honest with myself about needing help. I returned to therapy on a weekly basis, committed to caring for my mental and emotional well-being, and slowly found my way back to feeling whole. That healing process not only helped me reclaim myself—it also reignited my creativity and gave me the strength to share my story more openly. It’s what ultimately led me to write my first and second books. Those struggles reminded me that our journeys are not linear, but with care and community, we can align with our destiny—stronger and clearer in our purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
IWA Lifestyle is a company and movement rooted in character, culture, and community. We celebrate and support women of the African Diaspora who practice African traditions, and we specialize in curating spaces—both physical and digital—where spiritual, cultural, and personal transformation can take place. From retreats and summits to books, apparel, and our “Voices of IWA” podcast, everything we do centers the feminine divine, honors ancestral wisdom, cultivates family values, and amplifies the voices of women walking boldly in their purpose.

What sets IWA apart is our authenticity and spiritual grounding. We don’t just speak empowerment—we live it through the Yoruba value of iwa pele, or balanced character. We hold sacred space for women to grow, heal, and lead while staying rooted in cultural integrity.

I’m most proud of how the brand has evolved from a small idea into a lifestyle that touches women on the continent of Africa, in the Caribbean and here in the US. The launch of the Real Women Inspire Summit in 2025 brought over 100 women together from around the country—it was a true celebration of everything we stand for.

We’re also excited to announce that Season 2 of our “Voices of IWA” podcast will launch at the end of May, continuing the powerful conversations on Orisa spirituality, divine feminine energy, and living a purpose-driven life. Our offerings include guided spiritual tools, rituals, storytelling, apparel, and community programming designed to support women on their journey of becoming. We are not just building a brand. We are committed to building a movement that inspires women to life their authentic truth by celebrating their culture and traditions.

What makes you happy?
Writing makes me happy because it gives me sense of creativity and self expression. I love nature. I also love facilitating — not necessarily teaching — but facilitating others in their processes of understanding themselves and their personal power.
