Meet Dezaray Hood of Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dezaray Hood.

Hi Dezaray, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started in fashion when I was just 9 years old, learning to sew with my aunt. I’ve always loved fashion, but back then, just sitting behind the machine felt boring to me, so I started exploring other interests. Still, I found my way back to it in high school—that’s when I realized I wanted to pursue bridal and design full-time. I went on to study Fashion Design at Alabama A&M University, earning my degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. My original plan was to work under an established designer and really learn the ropes from the inside. Starting my own brand wasn’t something I imagined at first, but God had different plans. During the pandemic, I took a leap of faith, quit my job, and launched Love Story Bridal. I’ve been creating under that name ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been anything but smooth. I started during the pandemic after quitting my job, stepping out on faith with nothing but a passion for design. I began by taking on private clients, saying yes to every opportunity—fashion shows, styled shoots, anything to get my name out there. There were so many moments I felt like giving up. There were seasons where business was slow, or I doubted the quality of my work and whether I was really making progress. One of the hardest parts has been feeling like I wasn’t making the connections I should’ve been—like it was just me and my brand, stuck in a bubble while everyone else was advancing. That kind of isolation can be discouraging. But through all of that, my faith in Christ has truly held me together. I believe this is something He called me to do, and even in the quiet seasons, that calling keeps me going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the founder and designer behind Love Story Bridal, a brand that blends modern minimalism with the charm of vintage bridal design. What sets Love Story apart is how it honors the roots of bridal fashion—where craftsmanship and storytelling mattered deeply—while still feeling fresh and current. It’s a brand rooted in emotion and elegance. We love drama, but it’s all in the silhouette, not the sparkle. There’s intention in every seam, every drape, every shape.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is simple: Love stories are some of the greatest stories ever told. And brides deserve to see their stories reflected in what they wear. On their wedding day, they should feel seen—fully. Not just beautiful, but understood. I want every piece I create to speak to who they are and who they’re becoming. Because this moment isn’t just about a wedding—it’s about a marriage. And I believe in creating for the kind of love that lasts.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
This is something I’m still learning myself, especially as someone who’s naturally introverted. Networking can be nerve-wracking when you’re not the loudest person in the room. One thing that’s really helped me is leaning on the confidence of my brand. I’ve learned that if I’m not sure of my vision or the purpose behind what I’m doing, it’s hard for others to believe in it too. So when I show up—whether it’s at a fashion show or an industry event—I try to lead with that. I remind myself to own the room, or at least act like I do until I actually feel it.

Also, I can’t talk about my journey without mentioning how God has led me to the right people at the right time. Some of the most impactful connections I’ve made didn’t come from strategy—they came from prayer, obedience, and being open. God has placed people in my life who poured into me right when I needed it most, and I truly believe the right connections will always find you when you stay aligned with your purpose.
