Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Milyo.
Hi Carly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Homestead Yoga is the shared vision of sisters Carly Milyo and Avery Hinchman, born from a deep love for movement and an unwavering belief in the power of community. Their Milton-based studio is more than just a place to practice yoga—it’s a heartfelt home for growth, connection, and joy.
Carly’s journey began in 2010, transitioning from cheerleading to yoga and quickly building a loyal following through her early morning power classes in Atlanta. While managing at Lululemon and teaching at Atlanta Hot Yoga, her passion flourished. In 2014, she opened Thunderbolt Power Yoga, where she led transformative classes and teacher trainings.
Avery’s path to yoga was shaped by her background in dance. Searching for a new creative outlet, she discovered yoga and found a profound sense of belonging. Starting at the front desk and eventually earning her teaching certification in 2017, Avery now teaches with warmth, grace, and a fusion of barre and Pilates that elevates her classes.
Together, Carly and Avery bring their unique strengths to Homestead Yoga. Carly’s classes are powerful, playful, and rooted in experience, while Avery’s are expressive and inspiring, encouraging students to move with authenticity. Their bond as sisters infuses the studio with a sense of family, and their shared mission is clear: to create a welcoming, energizing space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered.
At Homestead Yoga, you’ll find more than a great class—you’ll find a community. Join Carly and Avery on the mat and become part of the Homestead family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a studio always comes with its share of challenges, and for us, one of the biggest was stepping into a space that had previously been home to another yoga studio. While we were excited to bring Homestead Yoga to life, it was important for us to clearly establish that we were a brand-new business with a fresh vision, not simply a continuation of what existed before.
Navigating that distinction was a bit of a hurdle. We wanted the community to know that Homestead Yoga was something different: a new energy, new leadership, and a new experience rooted in connection, creativity, and joy. We took time to build trust, communicate our values, and create a space that reflected who we are.
Like any new venture, there have been ups and downs, but the support we’ve received from our students and the greater community has affirmed that we’re on the right path. The obstacles have helped shape our mission and have made the wins that much more meaningful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Carly and Avery bring a unique blend of experience, innovation, and genuine connection to the yoga world—rooted in their sisterhood and shared passion, yet expressed through their distinct strengths.
Carly offers over a decade of experience as a teacher and studio owner. Her classes are known for their strength, playfulness, and depth. With a background in leading teacher trainings and building thriving yoga communities, she brings a powerful presence and vision that inspires students to challenge themselves and grow.
Avery, the younger of the two, brings a fresh and modern perspective to the studio. Her creative energy is evident in both her teaching style and her approach to programming. She’s the force behind Homestead Sculpt—a dynamic, high-energy hot mat class that blends yoga, strength, and movement in a way that feels bold and current. With a background in dance, barre, and Pilates, Avery’s classes are innovative, athletic, and designed to meet students where they are while encouraging them to level up.
Together, Carly and Avery balance experience with fresh energy, structure with creativity. They’ve built Homestead Yoga as a space that’s both grounded and forward-thinking—a studio that honors tradition while embracing evolution.
Any big plans?
Looking ahead, we’re excited to deepen and expand the Homestead Yoga experience. A major focus for us is establishing our own in-house teacher training programs—something Carly has extensive experience with and that we’re eager to bring to our community here in Milton. We believe in empowering the next generation of teachers with strong foundations, real-world experience, and a supportive learning environment.
We’re also in the early stages of building out retreat offerings—both local and destination-based. These retreats will be a chance for students to step away from their everyday routines and immerse themselves in practice, connection, and rest.
Additionally, we’re continuing to grow our lineup of special events, from themed classes and pop-ups to collaborations with local businesses. These experiences help us bring more fun, creativity, and community to the studio.
Our goal is to keep evolving while staying true to what matters most: connection, growth, and the joy of movement.
