Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Snyder.
Hi Sydney , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started competing in the Miss Georgia’s Teen Organization at age thirteen. The Miss Georgia Organization is a scholarship competition that is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year! The program is an official state preliminary to the iconic Miss America Competition. Through my three years of involvement, I quickly found a passion for sharing my love for athletics with students across the state! I have been an athlete all my life and because of this I created my own initiative called “Active Life, Healthy Mind” to inspire as many students as possible to get involved with sports for a strong mental and physical health.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My initiative was created based on a personal experience I had in middle school. I went through a hardship and lost all of my friends and it left me confused, lonely, and depressed. The one thing that I had to look forward to at the end of hard days was after school athletics. I found that my body was growing strong as well as my mental health! I used this experience as a springboard that would propel me into my campaign to share the urgency in youth involvement in athletics!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At just 16 years old, my work is just beginning! I have published my own children’s book entitled “Addison’s Athletic Adventure”, created an original Instagram interview series called “Active Insider”, hosted a sports equipment drive and donated the proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Georgia, and taught ballet classes at various Boys and Girls Clubs throughout the state. My mission going forward is to continue stepping into classrooms and meeting with students and pushing them to find their passion in athletics to better their wholistic health!
What are your plans for the future?
I have the privilege of competing for the title of Miss Georgia’s Teen June 11-14th in Columbus, Georgia at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. As this will be my third year competing for the honor of representing the state of Georgia at Miss America’s Teen, I am excited about returning to the stage to share the work that I have done this year for students across Georgia. Even though I am not from Rome, Georgia, I will represent that city at the competition! I have spent the past nine months serving Rome as the 2025 Miss Rome’s Teen. This truly is an opportunity of a lifetime and I couldn’t be more excited to start the competition and represent Rome!
