Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakischa Morgan.
Hi Lakischa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
DivinneSkinn and Wellness honestly started from my own personal skincare journey. I dealt with really bad cystic acne as a teenager, especially around my cycle, and it felt like nothing worked—especially products that didn’t consider melanin-rich skin. That experience really shaped how I saw the skincare industry and made me want to learn more. So I started taking Esthetic courses at IBW( The Institute of Beauty and Wellness)
Eventually, I became a licensed dermatology medical professional and started working directly with patients. I’ve helped over a thousand people at this point, and I noticed something big: there’s a lack of education and products specifically for people with melanin-rich skin. That’s where the idea for DivinneSkinn and Wellness came from. I wanted to create a brand and a space that focused on skincare, but also overall wellness—because it’s all connected.
Today, DivinneSkinn and Wellness is more than just products. I’ve published a skincare book called “Love: A Melanated Skincare Guide.” I host a weekly podcast called Skintelligent Sundays, and I’m currently working on launching my own moisturizer specifically designed for melanin-rich skin. Everything I do is rooted in education, empowerment, and helping people feel confident in the skin they’re in—because I know what it feels like to struggle.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Whew—definitely not a smooth road, but I’m super grateful for the journey. One of the biggest shifts for me was moving from Wisconsin to Georgia. That was a leap of faith. I didn’t have a huge support system here at first, and adjusting to a new environment while trying to stay focused on my goals wasn’t easy. But I knew I was being called to something bigger.
On top of that, I was battling my own skin insecurities and trying to find balance between working full-time in dermatology and building DivinneSkinn from the ground up. I didn’t have a big team or unlimited resources—I had to figure a lot of it out on my own from writing my book to creating content and even researching how to start my own product line.
There were plenty of moments of doubt and burnout, but each challenge made me stronger and more grounded in my purpose. It hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t change any of it. Every struggle taught me something, and now I get to use that experience to help others who look like me feel seen, heard, and supported in their skincare and wellness journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
DivinneSkinn and Wellness is all about serving melanin-rich skin from a place of knowledge, love, and real-life experience. I specialize in helping people who’ve struggled with breakouts, hyperpigmentation, sensitive skin, you name it—those who feel like the skincare world hasn’t really spoken to them.
What makes DivinneSkinn different is that it’s rooted in both personal experience and professional training. I’ve worked in dermatology for 14 years helping over a thousand patients understand their skin. But I’ve also been the girl who tried everything on the shelf and still cried in the mirror. So this brand comes from both sides—heart and science.
I offer skincare education through my podcast, Skintelligent Sundays, and my book, Love: A Melanated Skincare Guide. I also offer virtual skin consultations and am working on a natural, hydrating moisturizer that’s specifically formulated for melanin-rich skin.
What I’m most proud of is the way people are connecting with the message—that skincare is more than just products. It’s about self-worth, healing, and honoring who you are. I want readers to know that DivinneSkinn is a safe space. Whether you’re just starting your skincare journey or you’ve been struggling for years, you’re not alone—and I’m here to help.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about Atlanta is the energy and the culture. There’s so much Black excellence here—it’s inspiring. The city is full of creatives, entrepreneurs, and people really out here chasing their dreams. It makes you feel like anything is possible. I also love how supportive certain communities can be once you find your circle.
Now, what I like least? Definitely the traffic! And the cost of living has gone up a lot, which can make it hard for people who are just starting out or trying to build something from scratch. But even with that, I still love the city. The opportunities, the connections, and the growth—it’s all worth it.
