Meet Sean Grant of Trackstarz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Grant.

Sean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started writing and performing when I joined a ministry named Destinations, a spoken word/ hip hop ministry, at 19. At the time I was studying to be an electrical engineer at Georgia Tech and I never in my life thought I would be standing on stages in front of thousands of people talking about God. I was so shy as a kid, so self-conscious that I would never have chosen this life for myself.

I just felt a strong tug from God to start using art to tell my story. While in Destinations, I got signed to a major deal and started down the road of becoming an artist. While on this journey, I started realizing that there was a huge need for someone to overhaul the urban Christian entertainment industry. It had such a low-quality reputation and I started feeling like there was something I could do to help.

During this time I was also interning at Radio One Atlanta working with my now business partner Ryan Moore. We were some of the only vocal Christians at the station and realized there was a need to make a difference not only in the Christian space but also in the mainstream market. We combined forces to create a brand called Trackstarz to start affecting change in 2006. 10+ years later we have gained thousands of followers, millions of views on Youtube, and started helping hundreds of artists improve their craft and get their content heard by the masses.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We spent years working on our radio show with absolutely no audience. We joke about it now saying that only our moms were listening to our show at first. There have been many lows and disappointments on this journey.

Lack of funds, people leaving, people promising things and not coming through. The hardest part is putting your head down and realizing that even if all of this effort is to just help one person, it was worth it.

Trackstarz – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Trackstarz is a platform that is designed to help Creatives bring their God-given vision to life. Our community is filled with artists, producers, directors, designers, performers, journalists, entrepreneurs, and supporters. I am the CEO of Trackstarz and I am responsible for keeping the vision on track and using my engineering background to help us stay on top of any technology that will help us achieve our goals.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I see success as leaving a noticeable footprint on the world before I leave. I want to know that my life meant something to somebody else and that I was able to motivate them towards a stronger relationship with God.
