Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Oglesby.
Evan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Evan Oglesby, born and raised in Toccoa, Georgia—a small town with big dreams. Growing up, I was surrounded by a strong sense of community, faith, and resilience. Sports quickly became my outlet and passion, leading me to a successful football career that eventually took me to the NFL. I played cornerback for several teams including the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins.
But my story didn’t end on the field. I knew I wanted to give back and create opportunities for the next generation, especially those who come from places like Toccoa. That passion led me to launch the Evan Oglesby Foundation, where we use sports, education, and career development to mentor kids—focusing not just on athletics, but on life skills, mental health, and leadership. Awarding scholarships to graduating seniors.
Today, I’m proud to say we’re not just helping kids dream—we’re helping them build a plan. From sports camps, flag football camps for girls to afterschool STEAM programs and national community events, it’s all about impact and legacy. I believe every child deserves a shot at success, and I’ve dedicated my life to making sure they get it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s definitely not been a smooth road. For the past 17 years, I’ve been committed to serving kids—mentoring, coaching, and creating programs that open doors for their future. But I’ve funded about 90% of it out of my own pocket. That part has been incredibly tough.
Finding consistent support—whether it’s financial, volunteer help, or just people who believe in the mission—has been one of the biggest challenges. I relocated to the Atlanta area with hopes of building a stronger network of supporters and partners. The goal wasn’t just to grow here—it was to use the momentum to pour back into my hometown of Toccoa and continue serving those small-town dreamers who need to know that their dreams are valid too.
Even with the struggles, I’ve never wavered in the mission. Every kid we impact makes the fight worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m a mentor, motivator, and community builder. Through the Evan Oglesby Foundation, I’ve dedicated my life to creating opportunities for youth—especially those from underserved communities. We specialize in blending sports with education, leadership, and career development.
What I’m most proud of is the consistency. For 17 years, even without major sponsors or big headlines, I’ve shown up for these kids. I’ve stayed committed when it wasn’t convenient. I’ve helped some of these youth go from barely passing school to enrolling in college, from feeling invisible to finding their voice.
What sets me apart is that I’m not just building programs—I’m building people. I’ve lived the struggle, I’ve made it to the highest level in professional sports, and I came back to make sure others could find their own version of success. My work isn’t transactional—it’s transformational. I don’t just coach football, I coach life. And I’ll keep doing it until every young person I reach knows they matter and that their dreams are possible.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
As in sports, it takes a team to be successful—and I believe the same is true when it comes to impacting the next generation. I’m always eager to work with like-minded individuals, organizations, and companies who have a passion for youth development and community transformation.
Whether you’re a coach, educator, mental health professional, business owner, or just someone who cares, there’s a place on the team for you. You can collaborate with the Evan Oglesby Foundation through:
• Sponsorships & Donations – Help us expand our programs and reach more kids who need support.
• Volunteering – Join us at camps, school visits, community events, or mentorship sessions.
• Speaking & Training Opportunities – Invite me to speak at your school, organization, or event.
• Partnerships – Let’s create joint initiatives that blend your expertise with our mission.
At the end of the day, I’m building something bigger than myself—and I welcome anyone who shares the heart and the hustle to help youth rise. Let’s connect and make impact together.
