Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Aldrich.
Hi Allison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a mother of seven—two adopted through foster care and five biological—and family is truly the heartbeat of everything I do. Together, we run Aldrich Equine Adventures, where we currently train and repurpose off-the-track Thoroughbreds and jumper horses. Over the years, we’ve also been deeply involved in rescue work, helping to save and rehabilitate more than 300 horses from the slaughter pipeline.
While horses are a big part of our lives, my primary passion is music. I am an internationally acclaimed, award-winning Christian singer/songwriter and musician, and you’ll often find me behind the keys leading worship in the Ocala area, at local women’s events, doing homeless ministry, ministering in the Youth Correctional Facility, or doing the music for worship nights locally. I began writing and releasing my own music just three years ago, and it’s now streaming on all major platforms.
One of my songs, Don’t Give Up Your Fight, gained traction through TikTok—over 160,000 videos have been created with the song there, and more than 12,000 reels on Instagram. That adds up to over 77 million plays via social media posts around the world, with an additional 85,000 streams on traditional platforms. It still blows my mind that my voice, singing “Every day I’m fighting a battle in my mind…” is playing in people’s ears across the globe—and even regularly at DisneyWorld in France.
My music was born out of a deeply personal battle with depression, anxiety, and daily thoughts of suicide. In my lowest moments, God met me there—and began to heal my heart through song. What started as prayer slowly turned into melody, and lyrics followed. Today, my music has been streamed millions of times around the world, and my greatest hope is that it continues to spark light for others walking through the dark.
Music and ministry is my passion. If I can share that joy and hope for just one person, all the work is worth it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest obstacle, with anything in life, is the voice we listen to in our own head. The fear of failure. I had to overcome my own fear of failure, and the intimidation of what other people might think of me, in order to step out of my comfort zone into the spotlight. I used to hate seeing videos of myself and get awkward about livestreams. I didn’t like who I saw on a daily basis when I looked at myself. I had to decide I was worth loving, and discover my own self worth, as well as my value to God.
There was a time when I struggled with identity. I was deep in motherhood and lost touch with the things I once loved outside of family life. I barely touched music, rarely did anything for myself, and often wondered why I even existed. I adored my family, but my self-worth was at rock bottom. It was through music that healing began. I found my voice again—literally—and discovered that songwriting was one of the gifts God had given me, especially in my darkest seasons.
On a more tangible perspective, getting into the studio and producing music has been an incredible experience—but it definitely comes with a cost. Releasing music at a professional level requires a significant financial investment, and that’s been one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. It’s limited how many songs I can release and how far I can push them in terms of promotion.
With over 100,000 songs hitting streaming platforms every single day, standing out is no easy task. At first, I struggled to figure out how to get my music heard. I started by creating content on TikTok, and once I had the tools, I began live-streaming my music. From there, I built an organic fan base that gradually expanded across YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. I even launched my own website and taught myself how to edit my own music videos.
To offset the cost of production, I began studying music production myself and eventually produced and released two of my own songs from home. It was a steep learning curve, and while I absolutely believe a great production engineer is worth the investment, producing on my own taught me so much and gave me a deeper understanding of my sound, and the art involved in creating music.
Promoting your own music can be tough. Self-promotion in the music world is often misunderstood, and criticism comes with the territory. But I’ve learned that the presence of haters can actually be a marker of success. Everyone has opinions—but when you know your mission, you stick to it. It’s your purpose, your calling, your path. Let the Karens talk—you keep pushing forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Christian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with several original songs streaming—along with a few collaborations. What sets me apart is my love and passion for people and my authenticity. Authenticity matters, and because of that, I live very openly on social media. I believe the world needs to see that broken people can still make a difference. Broken crayons still color—there’s still purpose to be found. The world needs more authentic people so they know there is hope for them too. People need someone to relate to.
Outside of my performance work, I serve as the music director at Capstone Academy and Preschool in Ocala, Florida. Every day, I teach over 120 elementary students the joy of music, theory, vocals, and guitar. I also offer private piano and voice lessons. On weekends, I lead worship, speak at events and conferences, and do worship music for gatherings throughout my community and, on occasion, out of state. Most of my days are spent making kids laugh, pouring into their creativity, and planting seeds of a love for music that I hope will last a lifetime.
My family also runs Aldrich Equine Adventures here in Ocala. We love to help off-the-track Thoroughbreds transition into new careers! Sometimes they end up as hunter-jumpers, or get into cross country. Sometimes, they end up good family type horses. We also tackle other project horses for training, and some as long term projects to re-sell down the road. We have found great joy in working with horses together as a family. Whether it’s promoting our business online, hitting the trail, or heading to the occasional horse show, it’s a lifestyle we deeply value and love doing as a family.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband has been an incredible support throughout my musical journey. He’s constantly encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone, and any time I come to him with a wild idea, his response is always, “Okay, let’s make a plan and do it.” Even when the ideas feel far-fetched, he believes in me and pushes me to chase them anyway. My family as a whole has been such a solid foundation of support, my parents, and I’m especially grateful for my friends Mike and Deanna Geier at Recording Ranch in Ocala, as well as Jimmy Bridgeman at Rock Solid Studio in Dunlap, IL. Each of them has played a meaningful role in helping me grow and move forward on this path.
