Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Jasmine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Jasmine.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Born on March 14, 2000, in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, Taylor Jasmine Ahmed—known professionally as Taylor Jasmine—is a bold and mystique force in today’s music scene. At 25, she’s a singer, songwriter, and visionary with a timeless sound that fuses R&B, Pop, and Soul. Raised in a world filled with gospel, rap, and classical music, Taylor developed a deep love for the arts early on—singing, dancing, and creating from the time she was a child.

Her journey began in 2013 as a member of the girl group Wercharm, where she opened for acts like Mindless Behavior. Just eight months later, she stepped into her solo career, a leap that led her to meet producer and Kalombo Records CEO Mike Kalombo. More than just a producer, Mike became a mentor, helping shape Taylor’s sound and artistic direction. Their work together caught the attention of Lifetime’s The Pop Game with Timbaland, where Taylor was cast and filmed in L.A. for three months.

After the show aired in 2017, Taylor hit the ground running, completing her ’80s-inspired EP Hot Stuff. On her 19th birthday, March 14, 2019, she released her debut album Dear Me, which charted at #6 on the iTunes R&B charts. That same year, she followed up with her colorful EP COLORZ, and later her sophomore album Emotionally Fly—also the name of her fashion line, set to relaunch soon. Collaborating with artists like filahlahlah and shashajones, Taylor continued to build a catalog rooted in raw emotion and self-expression.

In 2024, Taylor released her powerful third album OUTAGE, featuring standout tracks like Everyday Drama and Without Her, and celebrated with a successful listening party in her hometown. Now, she’s joined forces with 3x Grammy-nominated producer/rapper Clark D, who executive produced her most vulnerable work yet: Catch Me While I Care, dropping June 26, 2025.

Taylor Jasmine’s mission is clear—to be the soundtrack to people’s lives, to turn her passion into purpose, and to create a legacy that speaks to resilience, emotion, and authenticity. With music, fashion, and storytelling at her core, Taylor is just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, there were a lot of struggles—mentally and emotionally. Being a recording artist isn’t just about making music, it’s about constantly putting your heart out there and hoping people see you for who you truly are. One of my biggest challenges was learning to stay confident in my vision, even when you have so many different opinions on what you should do, or who you should be as an artist.. especially after the reality show I was on, I felt as though it depicted a version of my character that I feel as though was misrepresenting the person I really am . My team and I had to rebrand back then .

Also times where trying to pursue your career and having a social life wasn’t easy . I missed out on my highschool proms, homecomings because I was dedicated to the music . I remember getting tardies, and detentions for coming to school late because I was in the studio all night recording . Also what was hard was trying to balance focusing on the art and also trying to be there for family , I had to learn at a young age you can’t please everyone, and that’s okay.

There were times I doubted myself, when life outside of music got heavy. I’ve dealt with heartbreak, self-worth issues, and growing pains all while still trying to be creative. Also, being a woman in this industry, you’re constantly navigating expectations—how you should sound, look, move. It’s easy to lose yourself in that.

But through it all, I had to remind myself why I started. Music has always been my outlet, my healing, and my safe space. The struggles taught me resilience. They made my pen sharper, my message deeper, and my love for this art even stronger.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, and storyteller at heart. I make music that’s honest, emotional, and deeply personal—pulling from real-life experiences like love, heartbreak, healing, and self-discovery. I specialize in blending R&B, soul, and pop in a way that feels timeless but still current. I think people connect with me because I’m not afraid to say what others are scared to feel out loud. I write songs that are like pages out of my diary literally—raw, vulnerable, and real. I also can dance, act, and I creative direct, and can even edit videos. Sometimes I feel like I really am a hidden gem, because the amount of different talents I have that I can do very well scares me sometimes lol.

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come—not just musically, but personally. Every project I’ve put out represents a different version of me, and a different period of my life and I’ve grown so much with each one. I’ve stayed independent, stayed creative, and stayed true to my voice, even when it wasn’t easy. Most people in this industry think i’m signed to a major label, and when I tell them I am still a independent artist it shocks them lol.

What sets me apart is my ability to turn pain into something beautiful—whether that’s through my lyrics, my visuals, or just the energy I bring. I want my music to be a safe space for people who feel too much, who love hard, and deeply, and who are still learning how to choose themselves. I’m not chasing trends… i’m building a legacy that’s rooted in emotion, artistry, and real connection. I choose the Art over everything ; Shoutout to Mike Kalombo for that quote lol.

What makes you happy?
Wow lol, this is a deep question.. well to me what makes me happy is the fact I get to wake up everyday and have another chance at life to go hard, and do what I love. My family/close friends makes me happy, the fact that I have 3 sisters aka built in best friends makes me happy. My dogs make me happy, shoutout Minni, Minx, Kaiser, and Kouture. Indian food, and African food make me happy lol.. Any body of water makes me happy, i don’t know something about being around water calms me, maybe that’s the pisces in me lol. Aesthetics, and pretty lights make me happy. Music of course of all things. Giving my loved ones gifts also make me happy. All these things make me who i am, I try my best to remember these things whenever I get sad, because it’s important I stay who I am.
