Conversations with Brittany Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Smith.

Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started as a little girl. Watching my mother, grandmother, aunts and Uncles cooking for the family. When we all got together it was always a nice spread of home made dishes. My favorite part of every family gathering. As
I got older I was able to help out more and eventually learned how to cook on my own. Cooking for me is such a joy and therapeutic . My heart is full when my food is eaten and you enjoy every bite you took. So much so that you come back for more. And that is a big part of how my business name came about. I would always hear how my food was something that people craved. My mom actually helped me come up with name 4Ever Krave. It stuck and I liked it so we went with it. But that’s jumping ahead. I started to realize at home in California that my food was really a hit and decided to start selling plates. My mom and sister had already moved here to Georgia and convinced me to move and start my business here in Ga as well. Aside from that I really missed them too so it didn’t make that decision hard. After living here for about a year I, I started my business that I had going on in California in my apartment here in Georgia. Tacos being my specialty and it being the thing that’s sold out almost every time I did make plates. The person I’m dating now, who is also in the entertainment industry seen what I had going on, didn’t really eat the kind of food I made til he tasted my food and was hooked. He believed in me and my vision and helped me get out there to the people and my food in a lot of bellies. I’ve traveled from Georgia and South Carolina and have a good following. Also selling out whenever I would set up in either place. Most of the places I’ve ever been employed also have to do with catering or cooking of some sort so my passion for it is real. I’ve done some front of the house and some back at the house and just really enjoy it. and now I’m literally known as the taco lady..

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been smooth or easy but very educational in the sense from trial and error learning how you literally can just skip some things but not all things cause it’ll set you back and make you have to start over again but if that’s really what you wanna do you won’t quit. And I am no quitter.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have many skills, but I do mostly everything that has to do with cooking or catering and even in event services. I think maybe one of the things that may set me apart is I am an African-American in love Mexican or Hispanic foods and really have taken strong love for the food. Trying to educate myself more about the culture along with the food. All while attending culinary school

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Georgia is the diversity and it’s up-and-coming and it’s fresh and new and there’s a huge door open and a lot of room for people like me who want to be an entrepreneur in the food industry. The least thing I like is the distance it takes to get from one place to another and the amount of traffic at all times in the day.
