Meet Jeremy D. Brown of hereiR Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy D. Brown.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was younger I always loved music and I also loved technology. I envisioned myself working in a field that included both of my interests and this is what started my love for music production and engineering. I have dyslexia so working in a field with numbers or constant written communication wouldn’t be fulfilling and I probably would not be as far in life.

I graduated from The Howard School in 2011. After graduating I went to SAE Institute in Atlanta where I was able to make connections but the biggest connection I made was with John Maskew who was the manager at Triangle Sound Studios. John gave me the opportunity to intern there for 6 months before I got hired as an assistant engineer. The key thing I learned about interning was to never turn down opportunities to be at the studio. This helped me rise to become not only an assistant engineer at Triangle but an assistant engineer for the studio’s owner Tricky Stewart.

At this time, I was 20 years old and was the head assistant at the studio. I thought I knew everything from working with all the high profile clients, but once I started working for Tricky I realized that I didn’t know as much I thought I did. After 4 years and countless hours of being in the studio next to Tricky and The Dream I decided it was time to go out on my own. This is when I started my own production company with my business partner Andrew Foah.

Throughout everything I have experienced and the obstacles I have faced building strong relationships is the most important thing I have learned. In 2011 I met Wyatt Oates and Tanner Hendon. They allowed me to hang out at the studio and learn as much as I could about audio engineering. Keeping that relationship ultimately gave me the opportunity to rent space at Madison Records for my production company.

Since starting the production company I now know that the music business is not only about skills within music but also being business savvy. It has been two years since we have started the company and i’m excited about our future in the industry. We have released multiple projects and are making big leaps forward. Staying with my intern spirit of never saying no to being in the studio keeps my career moving forward!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
LOL no, from an early age I have struggled with dyslexia. High School and College were extremely difficult for me so getting past school was a challenge.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about hereiR Productions – what should we know?
hereiR Productions focuses on full-scale music production. This ranges from composing music to recording and mixing music. From start to finish we have a hand in every process of the song/project. We have been in business for close to 2 years now, and work out of Madison Records.

What sets us apart from others and what we are most proud of is giving the independent artist the opportunity to record at a professional level. This allows them to compete with major label artist and even the playing field for quality of sound.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Accommodation. I feel like I am always willing to work with any type of artist. Whether it’s a genre I am familiar with like Hip Hop, Pop, or RnB or types I am not so familiar with like punk or classical, I am always willing to take the challenge on!
