Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrell Gebord.
Hi Terrell, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Im a small streamer, born in Boston Massachussettes, then moved down to Georgia in 2013. I used to watch youtube all the time when the platform was in its early stages and was greatly intrigued in the world of content creation. Creators like DashieXP, Smosh, NigaHiga, Valkyrae, Vanossgaming, Ray William Johnson, Berleezy, RDC, etc. really carved out my sense of humor and love for the platform. Later down the line, I started watching creators like FlightReacts, Solluminati, YourRAGE, ImDontai, etc. which are really specifically responsible for why i wanted to become a streamer. It wasnt until 2017 that I got my first setup to start my content creation journey. Although I finally had what i needed to start making videos and streaming, my biggest problem was that i wasnt confident with my work and I was extremely lazy when it came to editing my own work and going live. I felt as if it wasnt as good as the creators I watched, and I was a stubborn teenager who didnt want to take the time out to learn how to edit to my fullest potential, despite what people i met in person would tell me. Aside from friends, most people I met, once I informed them I was an aspiring streamer told me how they could see me in that field because of my personality, which is possibly a reason why I never gave up on my goal. Fast forward to 2021, It was my 2nd year at college (Kennesae State University) and I began to stream more consistently despite my heavy schedule and workload. I had 8am classes, 2 jobs, went to the gym 5-6 days a week, and once i finally made it back to my dorm, i’d stream until 3-4am before waking up for 8am classes and repeating the schedule. It went like this for about 2 months and everything went smooth, I even finally hit ‘Twitch Affiliate’ and was receiving pay from streaming for the first time ever and it was a HUGE accomplishment for me, but that didnt last for too long. Shortly after hitting ‘Affiliate’, I dealt with massive burnout, on top of me going through a rough patch in my personal life. I couldnt find the energy to stream anymore, no matter how much i thought about it throughout the day, it felt like too much of a burden to spark up a stream when i was at my setup. The small community that i had accumilated over the 2 months of me working for affiliate, practically all went away. In 2023 i made a slow comeback to streaming, but not nearly as consistent as before, and it honestly felt like a deadend knowing that i had backtracked all the way to ground zero, averaging only 1 viewer here and there, but i was still determined to get back on track. Towards the end of 2024, I started to see some significant progress in my community and I planned to take whatever measures it took in order to grow my channels. After hours of researching and working on my brand behind the scenes, i taught myself how to fully edit, make thumbnails, make shorts, networking, etc. and went into 2025 with a full head of steam. Fast forward to the present, my community and channels have made the most progress i’ve ever had, i received my largest payout from twitch, and i’ve made a ton of really cool connections networking with other creators, including some that i’ve watched for years. Its truly been a rough and unforgiving journey in my opinion, but I couldnt see myself doing anything else, and I cant wait to see how much i grow moving forward.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest struggle would be:
1. My own laziness when it came to learning new skills
2. Time management!!! (Balancing school, work, and content is top 10 hardest things to do consistently for me)
3. Technical difficulties due to lack of proper equipment
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im still a student at Kennesaw State University, but Im also manager for a small company based in Atlanta. Im proud about how ive been able to handle my time despite having very little of it. Growing up I was extremely bad with time management, and even though i still have my difficulties now, its still amazing to see the progress ive made throughout the years. I wouldnt say theres anything that really sets me apart from others, im still just an ordinary guy who’s chasing a dream and doing the best he can with whatever cards were dealt. I dont think theres anything special about what im doing, but nonetheless im still proud of myself for being able chase my goals while im young.
How do you think about happiness?
Its hard for me to put into words what makes me happy honestly. If you’ve been around me long enough, you’d realize im the type of person that its hard for me to NOT be happy. I have a loving and supporting family, great friends, food and shelter, and im making enough money which helps me to keep working on my content creation. If i had to pinpoint something that makes me happy aside from that, i’d say music, games, basketball, or anime. The list could continue but these were the first things to pop into my mind
