Hidden Gems: Meet Jax Porter of Creatryx Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jax Porter.

Hi Jax, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
1. Can you briefly walk us through your story—how you started and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a thing for strategy—spotting patterns, connecting the dots, figuring out what makes things (and people) tick. And I’ve always loved being around creatives. I actually thought I’d end up in the music industry, working on the business side of entertainment. But my path took a turn into healthcare and biotech, where I spent nearly 20 years in corporate marketing and sales.

It was fast-paced, high-stakes, and full of opportunity. But over time, I realized I was just as interested in the people behind the performance as I was in the products. What makes a team click? Why do some leaders earn deep loyalty—and others quietly lose great talent?

That curiosity led me to launch Creatryx Consulting, where I help companies solve people problems with business rigor. From hiring and retention to leadership and performance, we help teams spot the leaks in their talent strategy—before it costs them their next big quarter or their next great hire.

I also recently co-authored Sips of Wisdom, a career guide full of real, unfiltered insights from executives who’ve led, pivoted, and grown on their own terms. It’s one of the most meaningful things I’ve worked on—and a reminder that there’s no one “right” path to success.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t call the road smooth—but I’ve enjoyed the ride so far.

Shifting from corporate executive to entrepreneur for instance is a transition that stretches you in ways you don’t always anticipate. I went from leading large teams and managing multibillion-dollar brands to building something from the ground up—learning to navigate ambiguity, make every dollar count, and trust my instincts in a whole new way.

There’ve been seasons of doubt and steep learning curves… but each challenge has taught me something invaluable about leadership, clarity, and resilience. I don’t see those moments as struggles so much as refining points—those are the moments where the alchemy is happening.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
By day, I run a people performance consultancy called Creatryx. We help companies solve retention challenges, build stronger managers, and close the gap between people strategy and business results. I work mostly with HR and commercial leaders—those charged with building cultures that perform, not just look good on paper.

But a recent project I’m especially excited about is the release of a book I co-authored called Sips of Wisdom: An Unfiltered Guide to Career Success.

It’s a collaboration between five women executives from across the country—bringing together over 120 years of lived leadership experience. We wrote the book we wish we had earlier in our careers: honest, strategic, and full of the kind of truth that doesn’t always make it into formal mentorship or polished keynotes.

Whether you’re early in your journey or deep into a pivot, Sips offers the kind of real talk that’s hard to come by. It’s filled with unfiltered wisdom on what it really takes to chart a path that’s both successful and self-defined.

We hope the stories in these pages spark meaningful career conversations—inside companies, on campuses, and among friends and trusted colleagues. And we’d love to do more of that. So if your book club, ERG, or leadership team needs something fresh, practical, and affirming to unpack—Sips might be exactly the spark you’re looking for.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
This question reminds me of a core lesson from The Alchemist—one of my favorite books. It talks about how, when you’re clear about your purpose and start pursuing your “personal legend,” the universe conspires to help you achieve it.

I believe that. I also believe in God, in grace, and in the truth that none of us can fully earn the most beautiful things that happen to us. In that sense, everyone is worthy—but not everyone is always ready.

Luck, in my experience, shows up when preparation meets alignment. It’s when something I prayed for, worked toward, or quietly carried in my heart finally shows up—and I’m able to recognize it. And I have the courage to walk up to it (or him!) and say yes.

I’ve learned that luck doesn’t always look like a big break. Sometimes it’s a whisper, a connection, or a passing conversation. The real question is: were you paying attention?
