Conversations with Carmen Campuzano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Campuzano.

Hi Carmen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been fascinated with the world of fine arts. From music, theatre, dancing, I have been involved with it all since I was about 8 years old thanks to the endless support of my mom. While growing up, I faced painful doubts and insecurities (as many growing kids do), I decided to impulsively sign up for a pageant in which I had zero prior modeling experience and got 3rd runner up. From this, my mom decided to push me into the world of modeling and signed me up to a modeling & acting academy. I started at 11 years old, learning things from how to fix my posture, how to walk on runways, handle photo shoots, and most importantly, how to speak up. From this, I have not only been able to help myself, but also those who seek help when it comes to confidence during difficult times. Collectively, this has been a very important part of my teenage journey that has helped me navigate through growing pains, and has essentially helped morph me into the woman I am today. I’ve been able to take what I’ve learned and use it in my daily life tasks. I’ve been able to graduate high school early, earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, stepped into acting for a brief period, learned to play the guitar, officially started a business with my dad, worked at a Toyota dealership, had an internship at the Georgia Aquarium, and have gotten to connect with many wonderful people, I’ve also had the distinct honor of being on numerous fashion shows, had many incredible collaborations with different creative artists, and even had the pleasure of being placed up on a few billboards.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been a few bumps along the way. Modeling wasn’t something I would necessarily brag about, but I was proud to be vocal about being pushed into something that turned out to quite literally save my life. When I was on my modeling journey, there were some people who weren’t really supportive of it, saying I’m too short for it, or I don’t have the “model look.” I’ve learned to ignore it throughout the years, but this would affect my mental state when I was still a teenager. After that, I would keep my modeling career to myself. People would also find out where I used to live and essentially poke fun about it, because I lived in a mobile home. Then came high school, where I moved from Norcross to Lawrenceville. This is where new people would eventually find out on their own and be in disbelief and question me as to why I would never tell anyone. After that, I’ve slowly learned to ignore what others think or have to say, as they don’t really help or play a part in my career. Now, I have my modeling information public and anyone is free to reach out regarding collaborations or assistance with starting in the industry.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m known for being a versatile, creative professional with a background in modeling, fine arts, customer service, events, marketing, and administrative work. What I truly specialize in is connection, from storytelling, community engagement, or simply showing up and being able to adapt to different roles with confidence. I am most proud of being able to turn my unexpected start in modeling into a journey of self-growth, leadership, and creativity. What sets me apart is that I didn’t follow a traditional path-I created my own. I’m a multi hyphenate who brings heart, hustle, and purpose into everything I do.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is maintaining my mental well-being and having a strong & stable support system, especially my family. I’ve painfully learned that when your mind is in a good place and you’re surrounded by people who uplift you, you show up better in every aspect of life. My support system keeps me grounded and motivated, and my inner stability allows me to continue growing, take on challenges, and pursue opportunities.
