We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sandy Nguyen. Check out our conversation below.
Sandy, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I’m most proud of building is the inner blueprint that connects all of my ventures — from beauty to media to cybersecurity.
When I started High Maintenance Lash & Brow Artistry, I wasn’t just building a lash business, I was building discipline, patience, and the ability to create trust with every client. Then, with High Maintenance Media Solutions, I stepped into digital strategy and branding, learning how to translate vision into systems and results. Both businesses stretched me — not just as an entrepreneur, but as a problem-solver, a communicator, and someone who could wear every hat in the room.
Now, as I grow Highly Secure, a brand focused on cybersecurity and empowering women to protect both their digital and personal assets, I realize the unseen part of my journey is how seamlessly all of these worlds connect. Beauty taught me precision and care. Media taught me strategy and storytelling. And now, cybersecurity teaches me protection, resilience, and building a future-proof foundation.
Nobody sees that quiet thread — how every business I’ve built has been shaping me for the next one. That’s what I’m most proud of: that my journey wasn’t random, it was alignment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sandy Nguyen, and I’ve always seen myself as a builder — of brands, of businesses, and of myself. I’m the founder of High Maintenance, which began with High Maintenance Lash & Brow Artistry, where I provided luxury lash services for influencers, YouTubers, actresses, entertainers in Atlanta’s entertainment industry, and everyday women. That experience taught me precision, how to build trust with clients from all walks of life, and how to consistently deliver excellence under pressure.
From there, I expanded into High Maintenance Media Solutions, helping beauty and wellness entrepreneurs grow their businesses through branding, marketing, and digital strategy. I realized I could take the lessons I learned in the beauty industry and use them to help other women entrepreneurs build and scale with confidence.
Today, I’m building my newest venture, Highly Secure — a brand focused on bridging the gap between cybersecurity and entrepreneurship. My mission is to help small business owners and women entrepreneurs protect their digital presence, secure their businesses, and feel empowered in a space that often feels intimidating or inaccessible.
What makes my journey unique is how it weaves beauty, media, and technology into one vision: helping women feel confident, visible, and secure in every layer of their lives. I’m not just building businesses — I’m building a legacy that represents resilience, reinvention, and elevation.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me I’ve had to release is the “hustle-for-everything” version of myself — the one who thought I had to do it all, say yes to everything, and carry every role in my businesses on my own. That mindset served its purpose early in my journey. It taught me grit, resourcefulness, and how to build from scratch, whether I was lashing clients back-to-back or teaching myself how to market beauty businesses.
But that version of me can’t take me where I’m going now. As I step into building Highly Secure and expanding beyond beauty and media into tech and entrepreneurship, I’ve had to let go of the small-business hustle mentality and embrace systems, strategy, and scalability. My focus now is not just on working harder, but on building smarter — creating sustainable businesses that empower other women to do the same.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back the most is the fear of putting myself out there consistently — especially on platforms like Instagram. As a business owner, I knew the importance of showing up every day, but there were times I worried about being judged, not being “perfect” enough, or not getting the response I hoped for. Overcoming that fear has been a big part of my growth, because the more I showed up authentically, the more my brand and opportunities expanded.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building my empire— a legacy that grows bigger and more meaningful every day. High Maintenance has never been limited to one industry or one idea; it’s a vision that evolves as I do. At its core, it’s about creating impact, building opportunities, and establishing generational wealth that lasts well beyond me. Whether it takes years or decades, I believe in creating a full-circle legacy — helping people feel confident, visible, and secure at every stage of their journey.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes. There were times I hit milestones I once thought would be the ultimate measure of success — whether it was booking high-profile clients, growing my business to a certain level, or achieving goals I had worked so hard for — only to realize the satisfaction was temporary. Those moments taught me that checking boxes or chasing status isn’t what creates fulfillment. What truly satisfies me is building something with purpose, impact, and longevity. That’s why I’ve shifted my focus to creating legacy and generational wealth — goals that don’t just serve me in the moment, but continue to matter long after.
