We recently had the chance to connect with Kenisha Morgan and have shared our conversation below.
Kenisha, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
On August 3, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to screen my short film at the Tara Theatre in Atlanta, GA to a sold-out audience. The experience was unforgettable, but what made it truly special was seeing the joy on my nieces’ faces as they watched their Aunt on the big screen. Even more exciting—my youngest niece had a role in the film and got to hear her own voice brought to life through animation. It was one of the proudest moments of my life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kenisha Morgan—a writer, actress, and multi-hyphenate creative originally from Atlanta, by way of the vibrant neighborhoods of College Park and East Point. I’m passionate about storytelling in all its forms and love creating original content that amplifies women’s voices and brings bold, imaginative worlds to life.
In addition to my work in the arts, I’m also a skilled Low Code/No Code developer, which enables me to blend creativity and technology in innovative and unexpected ways. Whether I’m writing, performing, building, or dreaming up something new, I’m always looking for ways to tell meaningful stories that connect.
When I’m not creating, you’ll probably find me spending time with my boyfriend, my friends, my family—and tending to my beloved collection of plant babies. Yes, I’m a proud plant mom.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The one person who truly saw me for who I am was my grandmother. I was always the different grandchild—the one who dreamed a lot, and dreamed big. My grandmother would often say to others, “That’s just Kenisha. She is who she is.” I remember when I graduated from college—one of my proudest moments. I didn’t have much support when I left for school, but I made it through. My grandmother was incredibly proud. She even gave me a little extra money for graduation, just to show how much it meant to her. At the time, I didn’t think anyone noticed how much I struggled in college. But she did. She always saw the good in me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
One of the wildest—and probably not the smartest—things I’ve ever done was move to New York City with just $800 in my pocket. I had just been accepted into a conservatory acting program, and I wanted more than anything to train as an actress in NYC. So, I quit my 9-to-5, voluntarily gave up my car (yes, a self-repossession), and bought a one-way ticket—with no job lined up and nowhere to live.
It might not have been the most practical decision, but it taught me a lot. I had to learn the city fast. Within a week of arriving, I found a job that paid me that same week, and I was able to rent a room. Just like that, I was settled. From that experience, I learned how to hustle—because that’s what New York teaches you: the hustler’s mindset.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest myths in this industry is the idea of being a “full-time actress” who makes all her money just from acting. Honestly, the industry is always shifting. Sure, there might be times when you can live off acting alone, but that won’t last forever. Most successful actresses don’t just act—they start businesses, produce, direct, write—whatever it takes to keep the money coming in. If you’re thinking about getting into this business, remember: it’s exactly that—a business, with ups and downs. So don’t be afraid to wear many hats. It’s totally okay if acting isn’t your only source of income. Embrace the hustle and stay flexible—that’s how you build a lasting career.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I find my deepest peace nestled at home, surrounded by family and the love of my life. In those moments, the weight of the world slips away, replaced by the quiet warmth of connection. A niece’s tender hug, a mother’s gentle word of encouragement, a partner’s comforting embrace—these simple, priceless moments are the true treasures that soothe my soul and anchor my heart.
