Michaela , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Yes, I would definitely hire myself.
I’m extremely dedicated, reliable, and I care deeply about the people I work with. Organizing isn’t just something I do well — it’s something I genuinely love.
I bring creative solutions, patience, and positive energy into every space I touch.
Clients feel that, and that’s why the work we do together makes such a big difference.
I treat every home with respect, as if it were my own.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Michaela and I’m the owner of Michaela Home Organizer LLC. Organizing has always come naturally to me, and I’ve turned that passion into a business that’s centered around helping people feel more comfortable and in control of their spaces.
What makes my work unique is the personal attention I give each client — I really take the time to understand their needs and create systems that actually work for their lifestyle. Right now, I’m focused on growing my team so we can help even more people, and I’m also building strong connections with real estate agents, home stylists, and designers to offer a more complete experience for our clients.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I helped a senior client downsize and move out of her home after more than 40 years. She was overwhelmed, emotional, and didn’t know where to begin. I realized then that what I do is about so much more than organizing — it’s about supporting people through big life transitions with care and compassion. That experience reminded me how important it is to be patient, to listen, and to meet people where they are. It changed the way I approach my work and how I see the value of what I offer.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self:
You don’t have to have it all figured out — trust your instincts, keep doing what you love, and it will all come together in ways you never imagined.
Your heart, your energy, and the way you care for others will take you far. Just stay true to who you are.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the organizing industry tells itself is that organizing is just about tidying up or making things look neat — as if it’s only about appearances. The truth is, organizing is much deeper than that. It’s about creating personalized systems that truly support each person’s lifestyle, reduce stress, and bring clarity and peace of mind.

Another common misconception is that organizing is a one-time fix — as if once you’ve sorted things out, it will stay perfect forever. In reality, real and lasting change comes from developing new habits and shifting your mindset over time. Successful organizing isn’t just about the stuff itself; it’s about how we live and feel every single day.

Additionally, there’s a tendency to think that organizing solutions are one-size-fits-all, but I know that every client, family, and home is a world of its own. My job is to find unique solutions that truly fit those individual needs. It’s an art, not just a technique.

In short, good organizing is a tool for living a better life — not just a tidy room.

If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my customers would miss me as a person — someone they know and trust. It’s not easy to invite someone into your home and life, and I believe they appreciate that I bring a positive attitude, never judge, and always greet them with a smile and lots of energy. I also make organizing fun and turn what can feel like a chore into an enjoyable experience. Building that trust and connection is what makes the difference, and that’s what I think they’d miss the most.
