Story & Lesson Highlights with Melissa Morehead-Moore of Evansville

We recently had the chance to connect with Melissa Morehead-Moore and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Melissa, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is important to me because it is the foundation of trust. It guides how I lead, make decisions, and treat others-whether someone’s watching or not. For me, it is not just a value, it is a lifestyle that keeps me aligned with my purpose and consistent in my character.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Melissa Moore, also known as the Fear-Fighter Life Coach. I’m a U.S. Navy veteran, pastor, and certified life coach and I am passionate about helping women dismantle fear, rediscover their voice, and take back their power—one brave decision at a time.

Through my brand and platform, I create spaces—whether virtual, one-on-one, or in-person experiences—where women can unpack their truth, confront the lies fear has been whispering, and walk boldly into the life they were created for. I’m the founder of Take Back Your Power, a transformational experience and movement designed to shift atmospheres, break cycles, and stir confidence from the inside out.

What makes my brand unique? It’s not just coaching—it’s a movement rooted in freedom, authenticity, and transformation. My story is one of rising from fear, silence, and survival into a bold life of purpose, leadership, and truth. I bring that same fire into every conversation, workshop, and coaching session.

In addition to coaching individuals, I’ve expanded my work to include nonprofits, businesses, and organizations—providing professional development training focused on confidence, clarity, and fear-fighting leadership. I also speak on college campuses, equipping students to overcome fear, embrace growth, and walk in purpose with resilience and boldness.

Right now, I’m expanding my Take Back Your Power monthly membership, releasing digital products, courses, and resources, launching my podcast Take Back Your Power, and building intentional community for women who are ready to stop settling and start soaring.

If you’re tired of playing small, let’s go—we’re fear-fighting over here.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Fear breaks bonds—fear of being misunderstood, rejected, or not enough. When communication shuts down, trust erodes, and pain goes unspoken, relationships begin to fracture. Pride, assumptions, and emotional walls widen the gap.

What restores those bonds is truth, vulnerability, and intentional healing. It takes courage to have the hard conversations, humility to own our part, and grace to move forward. Restoration happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, heard, and valued.

As a life coach, I guide people through the process of facing fear, repairing trust, and rebuilding authentic, healthy connections—with others and with themselves.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this. You do not have to shrink in order to survive. You were never too much-your voice, your strength, your sensitivity, your fire-they were never your problem, they were your power. I know you have been taught to play small and play it safe, to people please, to put others first, but you matter too. You are allowed to take up space, to dream big, to rest, to say no, to heal. Everything that tried to break you will be the very thing that God uses to build you. So, hold your held up, baby girl-there’s more ahead than what is behind.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies is that coaching is a quick fix—a magic wand you wave, and suddenly everything changes. The truth? Real transformation takes time, grit, and consistent work. No one is “fixed” overnight. Another lie is that coaching is only about motivation and feel-good pep talks. Coaching goes deeper—it’s about challenging limiting beliefs, facing uncomfortable truths, and doing the hard work to rewrite your story. There’s also a myth that you have to have it all together as a coach. The real power comes from showing up imperfect, authentic, and relatable. Vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s the bridge to real connection and change.

Lastly, some say coaching is just a business hustle. But at its core, it’s about community, courage, and commitment to helping others rise.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m fully present—whether that’s in a quiet moment of reflection, wrapped in nature’s calm, or in deep connection with someone’s authentic story. Peace comes when fear and noise fade away, and I’m rooted in truth and purpose. It’s in those moments of clarity and stillness that I remember who I am beyond the chaos—the fearless woman who’s been through storms and still stands strong.
