Conversations with Azaria Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Azaria Jackson.

Azaria Jackson

Hi Azaria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Africa and adopted in 2007. Growing up, one thing that always weighed on me was that I didn’t have any baby pictures of myself. I never got to see what I looked like as a baby, and that missing piece left me feeling a little empty.

When I got my very first phone with a camera in 2012, I filled it with photos and memories. I didn’t want to forget anything, I wanted to hold on to the moments I could capture. That’s when I first realized the power of photographs.

In 2022, I started practicing photography with family and friends. It was just for fun at first, but the more I practiced, the more I realized how much joy it brought me. Then, in 2024, after I had my son, everything changed. I bought my first professional camera and started taking pictures of him every month as he grew, all the way through his first year.

Capturing those moments for him was deeply meaningful because I never had that for myself. I wanted him to have the memories I missed out on. And that’s when my passion for photography turned into my business, I wanted to give other families the gift of preserving memories too.

Photography, for me, is about more than just pictures. It’s about capturing love, growth, and life’s fleeting moments, so that no one has to wonder what those moments looked like.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges in photography has been editing and finding my unique style. It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out what truly felt like ‘me’ in my work. Even now, I don’t consider myself perfect, I’m constantly learning and growing, but I think that’s the beauty of photography. There’s always room to evolve, and I embrace that.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer specializing in couples, families, portraits, boudoir, and weddings. What I love most about my work is the opportunity to capture authentic moments and turn them into memories people can hold onto forever.

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the photos themselves, but the joy and connection they bring. Seeing the smiles on my clients’ faces and knowing I’ve helped preserve a moment they’ll cherish for a lifetime, that’s the most rewarding part of what I do.

What sets me apart is my personal story and the “why” behind my photography. I grew up without any baby pictures of myself, and that experience shaped how I view the importance of photos. To me, photography isn’t just about creating beautiful images, it’s about making sure no moment goes undocumented and no memory is forgotten. I pour that passion into every session, making sure my clients not only have photos they love, but memories that truly last.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by booking a session, whether it’s couples, family, portraits, boudoir, or weddings. I’m always open to collaborations with other creatives, whether that’s second shooting for weddings, styled shoots, content creation, or projects that celebrate love and storytelling through photography.

For those who want to support me beyond booking, simply sharing my work, recommending me to friends and family, or engaging with my posts on social media means so much. Every like, share, and referral helps my small business grow, and I’m truly grateful for that support.
