Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Little.
Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My wedding photography journey started allllll the way back in October of 2014. At that time, the industry was quite different, and it was a bit daunting to step into it. My first wedding was actually for a coworker from the coffee shop where I worked. I didn’t charge a dime. From there, things just naturally snowballed. By 2017, I was able to go full-time, which was an incredible milestone.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to so many amazing places, from Iceland to Hawaii and beyond, capturing the love stories of couples from all walks of life. Becoming a mother in 2019 added a whole new layer of perspective to my work. It’s been really beautiful to look back and see how life experiences—like marriage and motherhood—have enriched how I perceive and capture a moment.
Today, after 11 years of documenting weddings, I’ve learned that there’s no single “ideal” client for me. What truly matters is the authentic human connection and the heartfelt desire to document love and emotion in its purest form. I’m not focused on lavish budgets or trendy celebrations; instead, I seek couples who are receptive and value blending their genuine connection with thoughtful artistry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! What artistic driven career is?! In the early years, things were a bit more straightforward, but once motherhood entered the picture, balancing a full-time career with being a stay-at-home mom became incredibly challenging. There were moments I felt stretched thin, struggling to be fully present in either world. Sharing this struggle felt too taboo so I put my head down while juggling it all. 5 years later, my daughter has begun Kindergarten and I’ve regained a bit more balance in my schedule. I decided to share a small snippet on the season of life I had been in and was AMAZED by the response. So many photographers out there resonated with the struggle of the balance and I realized I had not been alone. It was a transformative moment finding that we, as photographers, often ask couples for vulnerability and trust, yet we sometimes hesitate to show that same openness ourselves. I wish that I had reached out more and leaned on the community, because it would have been so much less isolating. If anyone reading this has found themselves in this kind of season, please know, you are NOT alone. Lean on your people! Whether it’s a rant, a cry or a dance party – let yourself be vulnerable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a wedding photographer who is passionate about capturing honest, heartfelt moments. I specialize in blending candid, authentic storytelling with a touch of artistry, creating images that truly reflect the emotions and connections of the day. What sets me apart is my commitment to making every couple feel comfortable and celebrated, blending editorial and candid styles to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I’m most proud of the lasting bonds I have with my couples, and the way my work reflects the true spirit of each couple’s story.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for those just starting out is to stay rooted. It’s so easy to get swept up in trends or feel pressured by what others are doing, but the most important thing is to build a strong foundation based on why you’re doing what you do. Focus on your unique voice and your own passion. Don’t get too caught up in gear or external expectations. Just stay true to your creative ability and let that authenticity guide you. Having a rooted foundation of who you are and what you bring to the table is the only thing that will keep you fulfilled in this industry.
