Today we’d like to introduce you to Riley Krantz.
Hi Riley , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In the summer of 2014, I wrote my first rap in my notebook after Biggie’s ‘Juicy’ played on MTV. The song had lit a fire in me that I didn’t know existed. For the next 3 months I would write raps and then record myself rapping them and post them on facebook. No beat, just acapella. They were terrible, and the bullying was unbelievable. Going to school was really rough for me. But that winter, I had got some studio equipment and began to record my own music. Over the next 5 years, I released 5 full length projects and continued to hone my skill as an artist. In February of 2019, I released a song called ‘Dear Ex’ that wound up getting hundreds of thousands of streams. Since then, I’ve continued to build. In June of 2024 I signed with a label started by my manager Tyrik Britman, and we are continuing to grow. I can’t say too much, but expect to see a lot of me in the coming year!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Kinda like I talked about with the last question. I have overcome so much. From intense bullying, to being flat broke struggling to pay bills, moving in and out of my parent’s house. The one constant has been my drive to make music work for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
One of the things I’m most proud of is that I do almost everything myself. I record myself, I produce most of my own music, I mix and master my songs, and recently have started shooting my own videos. As far as what I believe sets me apart is that in this industry where it’s hard to ever tell the authenticity of an artist, I only speak on my own experiences. Every word I put in my songs is true. I know I have something good when I play a song of mine back and it gives me chills. My music is raw, vulnerable, and introspective. I have put a lot of time into mastering my craft, and I believe it shows. My cadence, delivery, and lyricism is elite and I mean that in the humblest way possible.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have a dog named Milo who is 3 years old and the best dog in the world. He keeps me sane at my most difficult times. He’s my best friend.
