We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cristal Carrington. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Cristal , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’ve been building a foundation of resilience. People see me online, the songs, the visuals — but they don’t see the sleepless nights, the self-funding, the moments where you have to talk yourself out of quitting or slowing down. I’ve built a mindset that no one can take away from me, and that’s the real engine behind everything I do. I really enjoy this music thing and the fans are still showing up to listen so I will as well. I’ve recently dropped new material, crossing genres again with a gospel track called “Complete Me” and a new dance track with a built in line dance called “Start It Up”, so I’m still having a great time creating and making songs people can jam too, no matter their mood.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cristal Carrington, and I’m a multifaceted creative artist, songwriter, and performer whose work lives at the intersection of music, fashion, and storytelling. What makes my brand unique is that I don’t box myself into one genre or one lane—I create across disco, techno, rap, dance, pop, R&B, and even gospel. My music is couture in its own way—eclectic, bold, and always designed to spark a feeling.
Right now, I’m working on expanding my catalog, developing sync placements for film/TV, and continuing to evolve as a brand that inspires people to embrace individuality, glamour, and freedom of expression. My story is about staying true to who you are, creating without limits, and showing that being different is your biggest strength.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’m being called to step into bigger stages — both literally and figuratively. For a long time, I stayed in comfortable spaces, smaller venues, or safe creative choices. Now, I’m leaning into theatrical, high-production shows and claiming a space in genres like house and techno where people might not expect me. It’s risky, but the art feels more alive when you stretch yourself. My music crosses genre lines and boarders, so I’m ready to step into that.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Something I secretly miss that not many people know about are Choco Bliss cakes. They were this simple, indulgent treat that I used to absolutely love, but they’re no longer around. It might sound small, but for me they hold a special kind of nostalgia — that comfort food joy you can’t quite replace. It’s my little hidden favorite that I wish would make a comeback.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the music industry tells itself is that songs are only worth less than a penny. That idea has been normalized through streaming, but it undervalues the real work and artistry behind every track. What’s interesting is that this model hasn’t only reduced payouts to artists — even labels themselves have seen their revenue models strained compared to the CD and download eras. The streaming system may have expanded access to music, but it also created a kind of imbalance that everyone is feeling. My hope is that the industry recognizes this glitch and finds more sustainable ways to value music — for the creators, the listeners, and yes, the labels too.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What light inside you have you been dimming?
I think the light I’ve been dimming is the magnitude of my live presence. Cristal Carrington isn’t just an artist—it’s an immersive experience. The music, the visuals, the couture, the energy—it’s all designed to live on the biggest stages, the kind that bring thousands of people together in one shared moment. For too long I’ve tried to fit into smaller spaces, but the truth is, this project was born for arenas, festivals, and global audiences. That’s the light I’m stepping fully into now.
