Sabrina Raphael shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sabrina, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start the first 90 minutes of my day in quiet time with the Lord. That time includes prayer, Bible study, and meditation. It helps me center myself, set the tone for the day, and approach challenges with clarity and peace. Beginning my mornings this way not only strengthens my faith, but also sharpens my focus and gives me the patience and resilience I need to serve others well throughout the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a mother, a licensed cosmetologist, and an entrepreneur. I was born in Irvington, New Jersey, and from a young age I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry. In 2017, I decided to step out on faith and start my own business, Beauty By Sabrina. My brand offers a range of services from hair to makeup to skincare, as well as products that I personally use and believe in.
What makes Beauty By Sabrina unique is that it’s not just about outer beauty—it’s about helping my clients embrace their God-given identity and feel confident from the inside out. I want every person who sits in my chair or uses my products to feel seen, valued, and reminded of their worth.
Currently, I’m in the process of reformulating my Enhanced Healing product line so that it can better serve my clients’ needs and provide them with even greater benefits. For me, beauty is a form of healing and empowerment, and my brand is really about creating that experience for people every day.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What I believe often breaks the bonds between people are things like pride, unforgiveness, and a lack of understanding. When we let hurt go unaddressed or allow miscommunication and assumptions to take root, it creates distance. Sometimes even busyness and the distractions of life can slowly weaken relationships if we don’t make time to nurture them.
But what restores those bonds is love—the kind of love God calls us to walk in. Forgiveness, grace, humility, and being willing to truly listen can mend what was broken. I’ve learned that when we invite God into our relationships and choose to see others the way He sees them, healing and restoration can take place. Just like in my work, where I help people embrace their God-given identity and feel beautiful inside and out, I believe relationships are restored when we honor each other’s worth and extend the same grace we’ve received from the Lord.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I would tell her: You are stronger than you think, and God’s hand is on your life even in the moments when you feel overwhelmed or unseen.
There were seasons when I struggled deeply with insecurity, questioning if I was enough—as a mother raising an autistic son on my own, as a woman trying to build a business from the ground up, and as someone just trying to hold everything together. But I would remind my younger self that every challenge is shaping you, not breaking you. The long nights, the tears, the fears of failure—they’re not wasted. God is using all of it to grow your character, deepen your faith, and prepare you for the purpose He’s placed inside of you.
I would also tell her to lean into grace, not perfection. To celebrate small victories. And to remember that beauty isn’t just what you create on the outside, but the resilience and love that shines from within. One day, you’ll look back and see that those hard moments were actually the foundation of your strength, your business, and your calling to help others embrace their God-given identity.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is integrity rooted in love. That shows up in every area of my life—as a mother, as a woman of faith, and through my brand, Beauty By Sabrina. For me, beauty isn’t just about appearance; it’s about honoring people’s God-given identity and treating them with respect, honesty, and compassion.
In my business, that means I don’t just offer services or products—I create an atmosphere where clients feel seen, valued, and uplifted.Whether it’s through a hairstyle, a makeup session, or one of my products, every experience with Beauty By Sabrina is meant to reflect authenticity and care.Protecting that kind of culture matters to me because I believe true beauty begins with trust, love, and a reminder of each person’s worth.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
The times I feel most at peace are when I slow down to be with the Lord, letting His presence guide and center me.I also experience peace when I’m creating—whether it’s styling hair, doing makeup, or helping a client see themselves in a new light. For me, beauty is more than the outward appearance; it’s a form of ministry, a way of serving others, pouring love into them, and reminding them of their God-given identity. And as a mother, I find peace in the simple, everyday moments with my son. Even in the challenges, I know God’s grace is carrying us and writing a bigger story for our lives.
