Story & Lesson Highlights with Lamaria Jones of Decatur

Lamaria Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Lamaria , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, my normal day starts with being a mom first. A lot of my mornings are filled with playing with my little one, keeping that balance of nurturing and being present. Once I’ve poured into my child, I shift gears and go into work mode. Whether it’s managing my business, creating, or handling daily responsibilities, my days really flow between motherhood and building my career. It keeps me grounded and motivated at the same time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Achante, and first and foremost, I’m a mom—that’s my biggest motivation and the reason I go so hard. Outside of motherhood, I wear a lot of hats. I’m an entrepreneur, a model, and a forex trader. Through my group Forex Flow Masters, I teach and guide people on how to use trading as a pathway to financial freedom. For me, it’s not just about the charts—it’s about building a community and helping others create options for their lives.

I also run Nuvreign and Boss Brand Stock, which I built to give business owners, especially women and creatives, access to visuals and resources that feel authentic, stylish, and representative of our culture. And modeling is another passion of mine—it allows me to express my creativity in a different way and connect with brands and audiences visually.

Right now, I’m balancing motherhood while growing my businesses, modeling, and stepping deeper into my trading career. I’m also in the process of starting another business that I’m not ready to announce yet, but it’s something very close to my heart. At the end of the day, everything I do comes back to creating legacy, freedom, and proving that moms and dreamers really can design life on their own terms.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Two women saw me clearly before I could even see myself. The First Lady at New Piney Grove recognized my potential as a model long before I did. She planted that seed in me and reminded me to carry myself with confidence and purpose. My grandmother also saw that spark in me—she always pushed me to go further, to be better, and to never shrink myself. Even before her passing, she made sure I knew that I had something special to offer. Their belief in me gave me the foundation I stand on today, and it motivates me to keep building a legacy not just for myself, but for everyone connected to me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to stop doubting and start trusting. Everything you’re dreaming about is already inside of you—you just have to believe it and move with confidence. Don’t be afraid to take up space, don’t play small, and know that every challenge is just shaping you for greater. You’re stronger than you think, and one day you’ll look back and thank yourself for not giving up.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the modeling industry tells itself is that beauty is one-size-fits-all. There’s this idea that only a certain look, size, or background can succeed, but that’s just not true. The industry often hides the fact that authenticity, personality, and confidence are just as powerful as any standard of beauty. Another lie is that success comes overnight—it’s often presented as instant glam, but the reality is that it takes hard work, persistence, and resilience. I think the real magic happens when models embrace who they truly are, and stop trying to fit into someone else’s mold.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m fully present with my son. Those moments—playing, laughing, and just being together—ground me in what really matters. It’s in those simple, intentional moments that I recharge, reflect, and remember why I do everything I do. Motherhood keeps me centered and reminds me that peace isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.”
