We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shiquita James. Check out our conversation below.
Shiquita, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 mins of my day is: I wake up, open my blinds, make my mushroom coffee, take my three spoons of seamos, take my tumeric/ginger shot, listen to Maya Angelou morning inspiration videos on YouTube while doing internal readiness for the day and then I eat breakfast.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Peace … my name is Shiquita James, I am up and coming actress, model and inspirational speaker but most of all a mother. I am also a part of the LGBT community and a retired Navy Vet with prior service in the USAF. I reside in the Atlanta area but born in South Carolina, raised military. This journey of my life is one highly unexpected so I walk it with grace, purpose and divinely lead.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that shaped how I view the world … is experiencing death and crossing over to the other side. It changed my inner standing of self, showed me the revealings of life and our true purpose of living.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
What suffering taught me that success can not is my purpose, my strength, my growth and the depth with me. Success to me is the reward of having healed, accepted, learned and fulfilled the tests, lessons, trials and growth personally needed to obtain such rewards.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is the awareness, healing and growth of one’s internal self. Wanting and helping others tune in to their inner/true selves. Deprogramming from the programming we were falsely programmed from birth to believe about who we are as a culture.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, role and possessions, what would remain is my SPIRIT. I say my spirit because it is eternal and I live by it more than I do my flesh. I inner standing on a deep level that I am a spirit having a human experience, and my flesh is an outer protection of my spirit in order for me to have this human experience.
