We recently had the chance to connect with Thomas Feliz and have shared our conversation below.
Thomas, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Lately I’ve been filled with moments that make me proud. I have a daughter off in college studying to be a nurse so that she can leave a mark on the world and help people. A son who just graduated high school and off to new ventures and the two smaller ones that help keep me going strong. I couldn’t be more proud of what they have been accomplishing and I can’t help but smile and feel proud.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Thomas, CEO and founder of The Wealth Committee and I’m a bit of an unconventional serial entrepreneur. I dabble in the arts, music but also very much involved in finances, tax preparation and stocks just to name a few.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Through trials and tribulations I had perfected the art of losing. So when I experienced my first moments of victory and success with some of my past endeavors such as car dealerships I started or being in the music industry, the feeling of power can be overwhelming. To feel something that you planned in your head come to fruition and decisions that you made actually cause success, it feels great.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were actually times I felt like giving up every day. There’s times I’m working on projects where I still don’t know if I’m doing things correctly. But one thing I’m grateful for is that I never actually give up. I’m one of the most resilient people I’ve ever met. And I don’t say that to compliment myself, I say it because I know what I’ve endured.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! There may be moments of privacy and moments that I only share with close friends and family. However, what you see is what you get! I’m the first one to call things or people out for not being authentic.. I hold myself to that same standard.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Being so hard on myself. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so I’m known to beat myself up a bit if things don’t go exactly as I see them. Most of the times things work themselves out anyway so the need for the added anxiety is unnecessary as long as I continue to work hard on my plan and believe in it.
