Trevor , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
With one of my latest soca songs “NEEDLE EYE” starting to chart throught the Caribbean, I am extremely proud, happy, pleased on how this carnival season has gone for me in the soca industry. The song has charted in islands such as Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and a few others so far.. The song is being Streamed heavily on Spotify with over 19,000 streams for the Explicit version and another 12,000 plus further radio version.. Since then my latest release “THE MAGIC OF CARNIVAL ” has already done over 13,000 streams on Spotify.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I have always been me. I have managed to create my own lane in the music and media industry from a very young age. I knew my talen and always worked on my musical craft from an extearly early age.I guess I was lucky to fall in love with music and the entertainment industry even before I entered, so by time I got there I was a bit prepared.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
In the soca industry on the island of Grenada we have a saying “you get bite”. Which basically means some new song has come and stole the momentum and spotlight from yours. Well I have been doing soca music since 2007 and trust me it’s not easy. Truth be told I’ve “gotten bite” so many times over the years I am suprised I still got a leg to stand on. Seriously though doing music is a strenghtener. When the product isn’t good the fan base lets you know and that also reflects in your online streaming numbers. You got to come correct or it’s back to the drawing board.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Nice question. Truth be told in the music business we create the image you the fan base see. Sometimes what you see and what it really is don’t really mesh. I always tell people it’s entertainment, as artist we creat agery with words which is super powerful when done correctly. I won’t say we lie to ourself in the music industry we as artist are usually too busy creating. However as nice as the entertainment industry seem there are so much politics, traps, back door games and other things that you the listener are many of the time never aware of.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop nothing. Alot can change in 10 years especially in this Emergent Age we live In, 10 years, hey I might just be healed with the help of modern medicine and science.
