Zechiah Weekley of Atlanta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Zechiah Weekley. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Zechiah, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Honestly, I know this may sound cliche since I cook for my business but I truly LOVE to get creative in the kitchen. The more creative control I’m able to have I lose track of time and find out more about myself as a chef and my capabilities. It’s really my favorite thing to do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone!

My name is Zechiah Weekley and I am a private chef and caterer in the Atlanta area. My business is called Eats With Ze, and I specialize in meal preps and proposal dinners! I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a chef and instead of playing with toys I used to always play with pots and pans while spending time in the kitchen with my loved ones. What makes my business different is I love what I do and want people to feel that through the experience I create with food!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Growing up my parents were my biggest influences when it came to work and work ethic. They instilled in me from day one to not be satisfied with doing just enough but to strive to go over and beyond expectations. I used to think they were just annoying and wanted things their way but now as an adult I’m so grateful for them instilling these values in me because it shows in my everyday life but especially in my catering with my clients. They tell me what they want and I go above what’s expected!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Honestly, suffering taught me that it’s not a place I’d ever want to continuously be. Even though I found out how strong and flexible I can be, I learned that at your lowest the only way you can go is up and that’s where I want to remain!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say my closest friends would agree that har work really matters to me. I really enjoy surrounding myself with like minded people and I really appreciate when my close friends and family tell me how much they admire my drive and will to keep pushing through any circumstance.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Currently I’m working on expanding my education by starting my Master’s degree this fall! I’m really excited to continue getting the education I need to build a successful and longstanding business. Once I’m able to receive my MBA I will continue on to my next goal of starting a location!
