Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Wiebe Lourens of Atlanta

We recently had the chance to connect with Wiebe Lourens and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Wiebe, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What battle are you avoiding?
This is a very interesting question. The simple answer is: NEVER avoid battles in life! Face them, conquer them and come out stronger. This way you will be the victor, and not the victim.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
The motto is: Turn your dream into a vision and make your vision the reality. Every person is unique and has a talent. Sometimes you find it early in life, sometimes late. Pursue what sets you apart from the rest and work hard to achieve goals. I grew up in a business family and had the privilege to learn how to take steps to become successful at an early age. The other foundation was education. With knowledge and hard word, you can accomplish a lot. For me, I always had a connection with sports and fashion. Blessed with creativity, I started designing shoes and quickly found out that this was something I really enjoyed doing. Never copy and paste other companies, so I made my own drawings with colors and different designs. After that the travel part came. I started knocking on doors at high end factories and made some factories enthusiast for my plans and ideas. Don’t go to the next level if your foundation is not ready. From there, I did the marketing part and started making sales.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I have to give my both parents the 100% credit for that. It was given to me at an early age. No bread and butter without hard work.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Honestly, no. A problem is a challenge, and when the problem is tough, you have to be tougher. Its not about how often you fall, its about how often you get back on your feet.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
As soon as competitors see that you achieve some success, there will always be people who try to discourage you and lie about your brand. Take that as a big compliment!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Do everything with 100% honesty and integrity.
