Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with April Carpenter of online

We’re looking forward to introducing you to April Carpenter. Check out our conversation below.

April, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is the most important to me. Without it, intelligence and energy can be misused or misdirected. A person with integrity earns trust, leads by example, and does what’s right even when it’s hard or when no one is watching. Intelligence and energy are incredibly valuable, but integrity ensures those traits are used responsibly and for the greater good. In my work and life, I strive to be someone others can count on to be honest, ethical, and consistent.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m April Carpenter a writer, mentor, and advocate passionate about helping women heal, grow, and step into their purpose. I’m the founder of Available Tax, an online tax preparation business built to serve individuals and families with care and integrity.

Right now, I’m working on several creative projects that reflect my personal journey and desire to uplift others. These include From Pieces to Peace: A 30-Day Journey to Wholeness, a guided journal for women ready to reclaim their lives, and Everyone Wants a Piece of the Pie, a book that blends memoir and self-help to explore what happens when we give too much of ourselves away. I’m also writing How Do I Explain the Unexplained?, a collection of true stories based on mysterious real-life encounters.

Through everything I create, my mission is to help others find strength in their stories and move toward healing, purpose, and peace.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that constantly sought validation from others has served its purpose and must now be released. For so long, I shaped my choices around what others expected or needed from me, often at the expense of my own voice and well-being. That part of me helped me survive and stay connected, but it no longer serves who I am becoming. I’m learning to trust myself more, honor my boundaries, and make decisions rooted in purpose rather than approval.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are not too much, and you never had to shrink to fit into spaces that couldn’t hold your light. You are exactly who you need to be, and everything you’re going through is shaping someone strong, wise, and deeply grounded in purpose.

.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
To tell the difference, I look for depth and direction. Fads tend to focus on surface level trends or quick fixes, often driven by hype, fear of missing out, or the desire for instant results. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, reflect deeper values, long term change, and sustained impact. They often begin subtly, but over time, they influence how we live, think, or connect on a core level.

I ask myself: Is this aligned with my purpose? Does it still make sense when the excitement wears off? Will it matter five years from now? If the answer is yes, it’s more than a moment it’s a move toward growth.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I made others feel seen, heard, and inspired to heal. That I lived with purpose, walked in truth, and never let my struggles silence my story. I hope they remember me as someone who turned pain into power, who gave freely without losing herself, and who left behind more love, light, and wisdom than she ever received. Most of all, I hope the story they tell isn’t just about what I did but how I made them feel brave enough to become who they were always meant to be.
