Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Bishop Kevin Foreman

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Bishop Kevin Foreman. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Bishop Kevin, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
First thing I say is “This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be made glad in it.” After I thank God for my day, I then say “Let’s go.” From there I have to jump out of bed. It’s a physical way to remind myself to be a person of action. Success loves speed. Next, I make my bed. There’s something power about you seeing yourself accomplish something small in the first few moments of each day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
**Hello, I’m Bishop Kevin Foreman** — affectionately known as *“The People’s Bishop.”* Born in Denver, Colorado, and **reared in Orange Mound, an area of Memphis, Tennessee** marked by the struggles of the inner city, I’ve devoted my life to **changing lives** ([Harvest Church][1], [Harvest Church][2]). From humble beginnings, through God’s amazing grace, I’ve defied statistics and transcended superficial boundaries.

Today, I serve as:

* **Influential pastor & church planter** — in May 2006, I founded *Harvest Church* from scratch in Denver’s “church‑planter’s graveyard,” and today it’s a thriving, multi‑cultural, multi‑generational hybrid church movement reaching people physically & online ([Harvest Church][1]).
* **Bishop & Chancellor** — I oversee the *Harvest Leadership Network*, mentor pastors, and lead as founder and chancellor of *Harvest Bible College* ([Harvest Church][1]).
* **Success coach, speaker, author, philanthropist & entrepreneur** — I coach leaders one‑on‑one, speak globally, have authored multiple books (including *Making Money Moves* and *Living in Favor Everyday*), and founded *Harvest Foundation* to serve tens of thousands in our communities ([Harvest Church][1]).

I also champion holistic well‑being through **#FitHarvest**, shedding over 95 pounds through simple, powerful lifestyle changes — testament to walking in God’s “shalom,” where nothing is broken ([Harvest Church][1]).

What sets us apart is our dynamic blend of bold, down‑to‑earth teaching and practical living. We tackle real issues, make faith accessible to every generation and background, and live out our belief that “we don’t work to make a living, but live to make a giving” ([Harvest Church][1]). Through Harvest Church, Harvest Bible College, global media, coaching, and community outreach, we’re changing lives, cities, and culture.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people? **Broken trust, undealt-with trauma, pride, and poor communication**—those are the real culprits. But at the root of it all is a lack of love.. Not just emotion, but action. Love that covers. Love that listens. Love that forgives.

So what restores those bonds? **Intentional healing. Honest conversations. Humility. And forgiveness that doesn’t require an apology. Restoration isn’t always about things going back to how they were—it’s about things becoming what they were always supposed to be.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The most difficult part of what I do is dealing with people. You’re often dealing with people in their rawest, most “ratchet”, unhealed, traumatized versions and taking people through that journey is rewarding and exhilarating, but it comes with people often hurting who was sent to help. Many people talk about “church hurt” from negative experiences they experienced with people in a church environment, but I know that it is to deal with the hurt that comes from leading while bleeding. Those types of situations compounded over years created the only thing that made me want to ever give up, then I realized, WHAT I was doing wasn’t the issue. The WAY I was doing it was. That’s a revelation for most people. The way you do what you do is frustrating you, often not what you do. Change the WAY and often you can get past any difficult WHAT.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Thinking that “smart” is enough” In fact, being “too smart” can often create a challenge because it can create an over-thinker who prioritizes thinking and planning of doing & acting. Success often rewards those who act not just those who think about acting or come up with hundreds of reasons something can’t work.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When have you had to bet the company?
Out of the gate! The joke is that I came out of my mother’s womb with a bible and a briefcase. I’ve already been a mixture of what the bible calls a “king & priest” meaning both spiritual & successful. Often, I’ve had to make great sacrifices to ensure the furtherance of both ministry and business. I learned so many lessons. In fact, my first book, “Making Money Moves: The Art of Getting Your Finances in Order” talk about those lessons I learned. If you haven’t had to risk anything, you haven’t accomplished anything great.
