Lotunja Wright on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Lotunja Wright and have shared our conversation below.

Lotunja, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I lose track of time when I’m building digital product templates because I know it means someone else doesn’t have to start from scratch or stress about being “creative.”

Most people think creating digital products takes hours of design work, but it doesn’t have to.

That’s why I create templates so others can skip the overwhelm and jump straight into launching something beautiful and ready to use.

And I don’t just hand over blank designs. I build resources that actually work in real life, with step-by-step instructions, so my clients feel supported from start to finish.

That’s where I find myself…by helping other busy entrepreneurs find a shortcut.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Lotunja Wright, also known as The Digital Liaison, and I help everyday people turn their ideas into digital products and published works without having to start from scratch or feel like they need to be “naturally creative.”

Through my brand, I’ve built tools, templates, and training that simplify the process of creating, selling, and scaling digital products.

What makes my work unique is that I’ve lived both sides of the story…I spent over two decades in education, so I know what it feels like to have expertise but not know how to package it.

That’s why I created The Self-Publishing Blueprint, a course that guides people step-by-step through publishing their own book, so their story doesn’t stay locked in their head.

Along the way, I fell in love with digital marketing, not just for the strategies, but because it allows me to truly understand how to reach the people who need my books and digital products most.

Marketing became the bridge that connected my creations to the lives they were meant to impact.

Now, I’m expanding that mission with digital product templates that don’t just save time, but also help people build confidence. Many of my clients dream of writing a book one day, but before they dive into something that big, they can “dip their toes in” with digital products. The templates provide them with a shortcut, a small win, and the confidence to realize that, yes, they can create something valuable and share it with the world.

What I’m working on right now is my library of ready-to-use digital product templates that give people a shortcut because when creators stop struggling with the blank page, they finally have room to focus on the big picture: impact, income, and freedom.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I had to settle on a particular type of career, one shaped by where I was from and what I had access to. Opportunities felt limited, and I thought success meant choosing the “safe” path and staying inside those boundaries.

Now, I know the sky should have never even been the limit. What I once saw as barriers were really starting points.

My journey has taught me that purpose isn’t confined to circumstance, and that we’re free to design careers, businesses, and lives that reflect our true gifts. I no longer see myself as boxed in, but now, I see myself as boundless.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. I’ve had single days where I made my entire weekly salary in just one day, and other days where I made nothing at all. That’s the roller coaster of entrepreneurship. Those ups and downs made me want to give up more than once, but the idea of relying only on a job to provide for me never felt like a real option.

The routine of going to work, coming home, watching TV, and repeating it all again felt like a trap…a rat trap for a rat racer.

I was always drawn back to my creative business because even when it was hard, it felt alive.

Eventually, I figured out how to turn that creativity into consistent income, no matter the economy. That’s when I knew I wasn’t built to quit…I was built to create.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my husband, Dennard. He has a true heart for others and is always in giving mode. As a full-time entrepreneur, he understands the same ups and downs I’ve faced, but what inspires me most is that he never gets caught up in negativity. He keeps pushing forward, and he keeps praying.

Some days he’ll pray, and we’ll see that prayer answered the very same day. Being around that kind of prayer power is something I don’t take for granted.

I know it’s his heart, the way he gives, and the way he stays positive even in tough times that keep blessings flowing his way. His faith and his attitude remind me daily that character, not circumstance, is what truly carries us through.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the biggest misunderstanding about my legacy will be the idea that I’m a “Jill of all trades.”

That’s not who I am. I’m a skill stacker. Over the years, I’ve made many of my skills visible, such as copywriting, social media marketing, funnel building, and other areas of digital marketing, not because I was scattered, but because I was so excited to learn them and to share that knowledge with others.

The truth is, those skills were never random. They became the foundation that allowed me to run my business from top to bottom without having to outsource every backend task. And now, they allow me to guide my students in ways that save them both money and time.

Anyone can write a book or create a digital product, but once friends and family finish buying out of support, what then?

That’s where digital marketing comes in. Whether you’re selling insurance, T-shirts, digital products, or even cookies, if you don’t understand digital marketing, you’re leaving money on the table.

My legacy isn’t about doing “everything.” It’s about stacking the right skills so I can help others succeed online long after the first wave of support has passed.
