Inspiring Conversations with Charm White of NextStep Immigration Form Prep LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charm White.

Hi Charm, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started NextStep Immigration Form Prep LLC in July 2025, shortly after working for an immigration law firm in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It was an uncertain time for me professionally, but I had long been considering opening my own immigration services company. As an immigrant who navigated the path to citizenship on my own, I understood how overwhelming the process can feel, and I wanted to help others through it.
With the support of my family and a pivotal loan from my dear friend, Zachary Parks, I was able to launch the business within just two weeks of leaving my job. My experience working with city governments and law firms, along with recently completing my associate degree in Paralegal Studies, gave me the knowledge and confidence to take this step.
While I started NextStep to serve my local community, my vision is to expand and help more people find peace of mind in their immigration journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my company wasn’t necessarily easy. While making the decision to move forward came naturally to me, and securing initial funding from my friend, Zachary, made the process smoother than it might be for many, especially Black business owners who often face greater barriers, it was still a challenge financially. I applied for grants and loans but was unsuccessful, and the small loan I did receive was quickly consumed by overhead costs.
Even so, I chose to push through because of my vision. I know this business is needed. By offering affordable immigration form preparation services, I’m helping clients manage an already costly process. That mission keeps me motivated, even when funding is scarce, because giving up is not an option.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
NextStep Immigration Form Prep is a family-based immigration services company dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complex U.S. immigration process with confidence and peace of mind. We specialize in preparing immigration and passport-related forms, offering professional, affordable, and personalized support every step of the way.
What sets us apart is our unique perspective and approach. As immigrants ourselves, we understand firsthand how overwhelming the process can feel. That experience, combined with professional training and years of working in immigration law, allows us to provide not just accurate form preparation, but also empathy and reassurance. Unlike larger firms, we prioritize accessibility, keeping our services affordable while still delivering the care and attention each client deserves.
At NextStep, we believe immigration is more than paperwork, it’s about people, families, and futures.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I honestly do not consider myself to be a “lucky” person. I work hard and I try my best to make intelligent decisions. However, I am grateful to have such supportive family members and friends. My mother is a business owner and she gave me a lot of words of wisdom and encouragement which helped me significantly as a first-time business owner. So in that regard I believe I am lucky and blessed to be surrounded by wonderful people. I clearly cannot name them all but I just want to thank them for believing in me.
