I grew up in the insurance world — my family started Diversified Insurance Brokers back in 1980, and from a young age I was exposed to the idea that this business is really about people, trust, and helping families protect what matters most. After college I knew I wanted to carry that legacy forward, but also put my own stamp on it.
Now at 45, I’ve been in the industry for over 20 years. Along the way, I’ve earned my CLTC (Certified in Long-Term Care) and CRPC (Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor) designations, which have helped me bring additional depth to retirement and protection planning. My career has focused on specializing in annuities, high-risk life insurance, and long-term care planning — areas where the right guidance can truly change someone’s financial future.
Under my leadership, Diversified Insurance Brokers has continued to grow as a family-owned firm licensed in all 50 states. What I’m most proud of is that we’ve stayed true to our core values: integrity, putting clients first, and delivering solutions that are built to last. It’s been a long road from those early days shadowing my parents to running a national firm, but the mission has never changed — helping families secure peace of mind and financial confidence for the future.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a rewarding road, but not without its hurdles. Like any business that’s been around for decades, we’ve navigated market downturns, regulatory changes, and the constant evolution of client needs. One of the biggest challenges was during the pandemic, when so much of the world came to a standstill. We were one of the few businesses that remained open throughout, making sure our clients could still get the guidance and protection they needed in a very uncertain time. Experiences like that — along with earlier challenges such as the 2008 financial crisis — have pushed us to adapt, learn, and ultimately become stronger. Those moments reinforced the importance of resilience, staying client-focused, and continually innovating in how we deliver insurance and annuity solutions.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In our business, risk is something we think about every single day — but it’s usually about helping clients reduce or manage their risks, not take on more of them. Personally, I’ve never seen risk-taking as recklessness; I see it as carefully weighing the potential upside against the downside, then making decisions with discipline.
One of the biggest risks we’ve taken as a firm was choosing to specialize in areas like high-risk life insurance and annuities. These are complex markets that require deep expertise, patience, and a willingness to take on cases other agencies often turn away. At the time, it meant stepping out of the comfort zone of “easier” business, but it also gave us the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for clients who had very few options. That risk has become one of our greatest strengths.
For me, risk is less about chasing uncertainty and more about embracing challenge — betting on our ability to adapt, learn, and deliver value even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. It’s that mindset that has carried Diversified Insurance Brokers forward for more than 40 years.
