Today we’d like to introduce you to Salice Like Alice.
Hi Salice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started in New York City in 2022, when I began consistently attending concerts. One day, I felt inspired to start interviewing artists. I began by researching upcoming shows and reaching out to the opening acts to see if they’d be interested in an interview. Over time, this grew into meaningful connections with artists and others within the music and entertainment scene. My passion grew outside of America and I continued my journey in the UK.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At times, it can be challenging navigating a male-dominated industry as a woman. It requires a strong sense of self-respect, especially when some artist management teams may not take me seriously because of my gender, or when certain artists mistake professionalism for something else. I’ve had to work harder to create space for my voice and perspective. Still, these challenges have only fueled my determination to push forward, build genuine connections, and uplift others through my work. My identity and experiences give me a distinct lens for storytelling, allowing me to highlight voices that are often overlooked in the industry.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create media that connects artists and audiences in meaningful ways. A lot of my work revolves around interviews where I get to shine a light on the journeys of both emerging and established creatives. What I enjoy most is having real conversations that go deeper than promotion, and uncovering the humanity and vision that inspire the music.
I am especially proud of the trust I have been able to build with artists. Many have told me they feel comfortable opening up during my interviews, and that means a lot to me. Creating that safe and genuine space is something I hold close.
What makes me different is my perspective as a Black woman and first generation Ghanaian American navigating the music and entertainment scene. I am not only building a name for myself in America but also carving out space in the UK. A true New York girly finding her way in London, you get the best of both worlds through me.
My identity and experiences allow me to connect with people on a deeper level. For me, it is not just about documenting, it is about amplifying voices and sharing stories that deserve to be heard.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is looking forward to the “end of the year” shows in elementary school. That was my chance to showcase my love for dance, and I always felt so excited to perform in front of an audience. Growing up, performing gave me so much joy and confidence, and it’s a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
