Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarvis McAfee.
Hi Jarvis, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My career began in 2012, not in uniform, but in ministry as an armourbearer corpsman with the late Apostle Milton B. Perry. That role taught me humility, discipline, and the importance of serving others before serving myself. Walking in ministry at that stage of my life gave me a foundation in accountability, sacrifice, and leadership through service—values that would shape every step of my professional journey.
In 2013, I transitioned into the field of security. Those early years gave me firsthand experience in protecting people, property, and environments, but they also gave me something deeper: a clear sense of purpose. Security work showed me that service wasn’t limited to the church—it extended into every aspect of daily life where people needed safety, order, and peace of mind.
My journey then led me into law enforcement at both local and state levels. In those roles, I was tested daily in discipline, judgment, and resilience. Law enforcement demanded that I remain calm under pressure, act decisively in unpredictable situations, and maintain integrity no matter the challenge. It also broadened my perspective on community—reminding me that protection is about relationships as much as it is about response.
Building on that foundation, I stepped into the corporate world as a safety and risk team member within the insurance industry. It was a very different environment, but one that added critical skills to my toolbox. In the corporate space, I learned the principle that continues to guide me today: “If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen.” That mindset transformed the way I approached operations and accountability. Documentation became more than paperwork—it became proof of consistency, professionalism, and credibility. It also helped me understand that leadership isn’t just about action, but about ensuring that action leaves a record that others can rely on.
Ultimately, these experiences came together in my decision to found and lead my own security firm. Owning a company has required me to integrate lessons from ministry, law enforcement, and corporate America into a single standard: serving others with excellence, integrity, and consistency. As a business owner, I’ve learned to think not only about the immediate needs of clients, but also about the long-term impact of how we operate and the culture we build.
Across every stage of my journey, one lesson has proven most important: show up. Whether serving in ministry, responding to calls as an officer, managing corporate risks, or leading a team of professionals, I’ve seen that success always begins with being present, dependable, and prepared. Titles and positions may change, but showing up with consistency and commitment is what earns trust and builds legacies.
From 2012 to today, my career has been about growth through service—starting with ministry, strengthened in law enforcement, refined in corporate culture, and realized through business ownership. Each step has shaped me into not only a protector, but a leader committed to serving others inside and outside the uniform.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth, but every challenge has come with a lesson. Transitioning from the structure of working within a corporation to building and running my own company was a major shift. In the corporate world, there was always a system, a name, and a reputation that carried weight. As a business owner, I quickly realized that if you’re not consistently networking, people will never know you or the company exists.
There were times when I couldn’t clearly see the next step, but I learned that simply showing up—whether to meetings, events, or opportunities—has always produced provision. Another challenge was establishing a strong brand presence. From designing a logo, creating a website, and building out social media platforms, I had to make sure that InArms Protection Agency reached beyond the physical eye and into the digital space where so much visibility happens today.
I also had to learn how to navigate through false leads—situations and connections that appeared promising but ultimately weren’t beneficial. While those moments were discouraging, they taught me discernment and the importance of persistence. Each obstacle has sharpened my ability to adapt, remain consistent, and keep moving forward toward the larger vision.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At InArms Protection Agency, my work revolves around securing, protecting, helping, and caring. At the heart of what I do is a commitment to treat people like family. Security isn’t just about standing watch—it’s about creating peace of mind for clients who trust us with what matters most to them.
Our agency specializes in physical security, executive protection, and safety services tailored to the needs of businesses, events, and individuals. What sets us apart is the combination of professionalism and genuine care. We don’t just provide a presence; we provide a partnership in protection. That’s why our guiding statement is: “Executing Protection Power with Precision and Peace of Mind.”
I’m most proud of building a company that goes beyond simply filling a role. Clients often tell me they feel seen, valued, and cared for—not just secured. That is the standard we uphold. While many security firms focus only on the technical or tactical side, we balance that with trust, empathy, and family-style service.
What truly differentiates InArms is that we deliver both strength and compassion. We ensure safety with precision, but we also do it with humanity. That’s the legacy I’m working to build and the promise behind every service we provide.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
In Northwest Georgia, I’ve always carried a strong desire to give back to the community—the same way I grew up watching others pour into it. Service has always been at the center of who I am, and I believe true success is measured not just by what you build, but by what you give.
I stay actively involved through organizations such as Rotary District 6910, the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber, and United Way, which provide opportunities to connect, serve, and contribute to the growth and wellbeing of the community. I also support programs like Shop with a Hero, where children are given the opportunity to shop alongside local heroes, creating positive memories and experiences that go beyond material needs.
Whether it’s supporting local initiatives, mentoring, or simply showing up where help is needed, I want to continue being a part of that cycle of giving that shaped me growing up. At the end of the day, my hope is to not only build a business that protects people, but also to build a legacy of service that inspires others to do the same.
