Daily Inspiration: Meet Crystal Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Smith.

Hi Crystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my insurance career in 2018 with a simple but powerful mission: to be the kind of agent I wished more people had access to. Someone honest, approachable, and genuinely invested in protecting seniors from the confusion and pitfalls of Medicare. I quickly saw how overwhelming the system could be, with hidden penalties, misleading offers, and complex choices that often left people vulnerable.

What started as a career soon became a calling. Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to educating clients and the community, making Medicare understandable and giving people the confidence to make the best decisions for their health and finances. Along the way, I’ve developed not only deep expertise but also a true love for the work I do and the people I serve. Helping someone find peace of mind in a process that once felt intimidating is the most rewarding part of my journey and it’s what continues to inspire me every day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, the road hasn’t been smooth. It’s been full of challenges that have shaped both me and my business. The toughest season by far was during the 2020 pandemic. My work is deeply personal; I’ve always believed that sitting across the kitchen table with a client is the best way to truly listen, understand, and guide them through their Medicare options. Suddenly, that connection, something I had built my entire business around, was no longer possible.

Like so many others, I faced the fear and uncertainty of how to keep going. Clients were understandably hesitant to meet face-to-face, and I had to find new ways to reach them without losing the trust and personal touch I’d worked so hard to build. It tested my creativity, resilience, and dedication to my mission. Ultimately, those struggles made me stronger. They reminded me why I started this journey in the first place and pushed me to grow in ways I never expected.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an Independent Insurance Agent who helps people navigate one of the most confusing and overwhelming times in their lives, transitioning into Medicare. I specialize in working to simplify the process, cut through the noise, and make sure my clients and community avoid costly mistakes like penalties, gaps in coverage, or falling for plans that do not really fit their needs.

What I am most proud of is not just enrolling someone in a plan, it is the moment I see the relief on their face when everything finally makes sense. For many, Medicare feels like a maze of fine print and deadlines, and being able to provide clarity and peace of mind is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart is the way I approach my work. I do not see myself as a salesperson, I see myself as an educator and advocate. I take the time to sit down, listen, and really understand what matters most to each person, whether that is their doctors, prescriptions, or budget. My goal is never just to sell a policy but to build trust and a long term relationship.

At the heart of it, I am known for honesty, patience, and making Medicare understandable. I love turning what feels overwhelming into something empowering for the people I serve.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my vision is to build my own agency where I can train and mentor agents who share the same client first mindset that has guided my career. I want to create a team of professionals who lead with honesty, education, and compassion so that even more people can receive the trustworthy service they deserve.

For me, it is not just about growing a business, it is about multiplying the impact. By surrounding myself with like minded agents, I can ensure that seniors and their families continue to have access to guidance that is clear, honest, and centered on their needs. That is the legacy I am working toward and what excites me most about the future.
