Hidden Gems: Meet Kelly Hillis of The Perfect Posey, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Hillis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always loved the beauty of nature and how it speaks to me through flowers and the art of floral arranging. However, this was not the career I chose initially. I spent most of my life working as a Certified Public Accountant, and quite frankly, I hated it. When time allowed, I was always creating floral arrangements for my home and doing all the flowers for most of the females in my family as they married. At the age of 50, I decided to jump ship and immersed myself in the floral design world through education and practical experience. It has been 10 years since I launched my business, The Perfect Posey, LLC and I can’t believe how much fulfillment and joy this business has brought me. I get to immerse myself in my creative side, while utilizing my business knowledge. It’s a win win. I have met so many wonderful families and friends through these connections and I am forever grateful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have definitely been some bumps along the way and I’ve been pushed outside my comfort zone quite a bit. Because I am not a store front florist, but rather a wedding florist, I have to adapt my style to reflect the many styles of different brides. It definitely stretched me early on and at times I was discouraged, however, I’ve learned to “just do it” and not overthink it and it ends up turning out just fine.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Perfect Posey, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Perfect Posey is known for luxury floral design for budgets from $5k to $15k. We use the freshest and highest quality of flowers from reputable wholesalers and local farms. Customer service is a top priority, so we are available to our customers to meet, answer questions, and explain the design process so this part of wedding planning is smooth, and done in a timely manner. I am most proud of the reviews I’ve received on FaceBook and Google. Many of my reviews are truly humbling and it makes all the hard work and preparation of designing and executing the floral and decor aesthetic of a wedding worth it.

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is loving what you do and your customers loving what you do.
