Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Claire Englishby.
Hi Hannah Claire, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have struggled with my skin, acne specifically, ever since my preteens. I remember trying EVERYTHING, seeing multiple doctors/dermatologists, trying all the products, home remedies, prescription pills, topicals- you name it. Nothing ever seemed to work and it truly took a toll on my self esteem. Fast forward to my early twenties, and my stubborn acne was still an ongoing issue. I envied my friends who had perfect, clear skin, with little to no effort. It just wasn’t fair! I remember learning about what an “Esthetician” was. One of the many possible specialties that came with this profession included helping to treat acne. I was intrigued! I did my research, and ultimately decided to give up my dream of going to college to become a teacher, and instead ended up applying to esthetician school. I wanted to take matters into my own hands! I wanted to gain the knowledge on how to not only clear my own skin, but help others who struggled with their skin concerns. Long story short, that is how I got to where I am today. I started “Hannah Claire Skincare” in January of 2022, after graduating esthetics school, pursuing various continuing education courses, attaining multiple advanced certifications in order to gain as much knowledge as possible, and working in a medical spa for nearly 2 years-soaking in all the information and fully taking advantage of as much hands-on experience as possible . Today “Hannah Claire Skincare” not only helps clients struggling with acne, but also offers treatments and guidance for preventative aging, sensitive skin, and even offering relaxing facial experiences.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! I remember starting out and being lucky if I even had one client on my books for that entire week! I was babysitting on the side, just to stay afloat. I did not let this deter me though. I went in, even when I had nobody on my books. I used this time to market myself. I posted on local facebook groups, created instagram posts and reels, performed free and/or incredibly discounted services on family and friends just to acquire before and after photos- I was GOING to make this work! Slowly, my clientele began to grow, and with the help of word of mouth and social media, my amazing loyal clientele- “Hannah Claire Skincare” is where it is today and only continues to grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Esthetician, specializing in skin. Acne is my #1 niche, however I also provide corrective aging treatment, corneotherapy (sensitive skin/barrier repair treatment). Whether a client wants a result-driven treatment plan, or just a relaxing facial service- I’m here to help! I guess that in some aspect, you could even call me a “skin coach”. Alot of what I do involves coming up with a treatment plan for my clients. This includes recommending a customized homecare product routine, that I tailor to their specific skin type, condition and concerns. I provide clients with resources and information to help educate them on recognizing certain lifestyle factors that could be contributing to the root cause of their acne (or other skin condition) without the use of prescription drugs. Sometimes it can be as simple as switching up their product routine, and/or even recognizing certain dietary triggers, or habits in their daily life that could be attributing to the issue. Noticing and educating my clients on these factors, along with an in clinic and at home treatment plan- ultimately sets my clients up for success. I always tell my clients, this is not just me doing the work, it’s up to them as well! We are a team!
I am proud of how far I’ve come with my business, the relationships I’ve made and how many people I have helped to regain confidence in their own skin! If you were to tell me 10 years ago that I was running a successful skincare business, let alone in my 20’s-I would’ve called you crazy! I’d have to say that I’m known for creating a relaxing environment for every client that walks through my doors. I pride myself on building a relationship with my clients, allowing vulnerability, honesty, and ethical treatments. I want them to know that I HEAR them and that I am with them every step of the way! They are not just a “client” to me, I see them as a person and for who they are- our relationship is built on trust, understanding and ultimately friendship.
What sets myself apart from others is that I TRULY love what I do. I look forward to going into work everyday and helping others achieve their skin goals! I honestly dont even see this as a job alot of the time and while I (obviously) benefit from the money to pay my bills and cover expenses- It’s never about the money to me. It’s about the relationships I create, the care and knowledge that I share and positive change I make in my clients skin. My clients know that every service I provide, or product I offer is something I TRULY believe in for the best possible results.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have always been a girly girl! I always loved playing dress up, barbies, playing with my moms makeup. Even as a teen I was always experimenting with different skincare and makeup products, watching all the beauty gurus on youtube. That being said, I’d have to say just being a little girl and doing all the girly things!
